Jood, do you know what I did, In my mind I tried to do the accents of my rellies that had moved from one county to another, I probably have the advantage because I come from the UK, but try it , think that county's accent, and you can come up with different types of spellings, Tony can probably help with the ock can oras, and then there's the be jesers so when they spoke with the enumarator/er it all went fonetik, ah begora me dharlin, Jill. ps have had a wine here son came home with good news |

My little story with the transcripbers is a good one too . . . Rays gtgrandparent have the surname Pervis . . . yet that name only appears on two census - I have tracked them from 1841 thru to 1891, the most interesting mistranscription of the name being Pervin (Can now call Ray a pervin titman). . . must admit though I was well and truely chuffed with myself for finding them given the odds. Very low cloud over the bay - I can just see the airport lights through blurry eyes. One thing about the rain - the clouds keep the temp up a bit, its cool - but no heating on yet! Catchya later luv Laurie |

Jill you are soo right about incorrect transcription. I had to take my ggfathers death certificate in to Rookwood Cemetery here in NSW, and show them the spelling of the christian name (which they had incorrect) - they now have adjusted it. .. It was something like 'Andrew' and should have been 'Anslem' They kept saying he wasn't buried there. .. I'd actually seen his grave some 20 yrs before. Jood |

Laurie just got home from taking Josh to Wangarratta, So glad about your arm but there is down side you realise you won't be getting rid of the tuck shop arms and won' t have the opportunity to have the other one done to even you up darn eh, no seriously just all good news Baileys to celebrate to night, I' ll raise my glass at 7:30 toward my putor you do the same and well clink ok . Trifley can you please ask Mark when he is home when he puts his laptop into hibernate how does he do it and the how does he stop it please as this has to be what is happening to mine as I'm not getting any message to say it was closed down the wrong way or anything after it does it shuts itself off I mean tell him not a putor whizz can he tell in Kiss language please Rebs not long now girl got your exit organised if they get out of hand, omg pmsl seeing you trying to keep control would love to be fly on the wall Joodles just wait and see did you put any query's on the Trying to Find board that's where I got my results within the first 24hrs. of being a member . Glad to hear you are a bit better the energy will come ack just dont overdo when feeling a little better and un do the good work Sue Devily ,Tony so true what you said agree entirely I have nothing against gays live and let live I say , but 3 and 4 years old children do not need this info let them be children , they grow up fast enough its too much for them to understand and they would just switch off anyway so just because this lady who has a daughter who came home and said most familys have a mummy and a daddy let her then say well ours is a different sort of family we have two mummies that's is all that is necessary , then those children who are not affected need not be bothered hearing about alternitives ok had my say that's it . Hello to all and talk tomorrow have to go and sleep find driving very stressfull and it brings on a sleep attack with the narcolepsy love Lara |

Good news about Laurie, eh peeps? Thanks for the advice Vonny, am sitting patiently ... waiting waiting, for the piles of Hot Matches coming my way ?? .. I am starting to plough through the million Cook names (I have two different families) .. no luck yet. Pam, how careless of them to spell your name wrong!! .. pmsl. .. Nothing like a genie meeting to get you back to your family history again. .. I have fits and starts. .. I hit brick walls about 20 years ago .. very few have opened since then. .. Although Laurie & I have only known each other for 2 or so years. Wonder where our Lara is .. packing packing .. one thought in mind 'On the road again, dah dah dah de dah dahdedum' or 'King of the road' .. pmsl Jood |

sorry Pam didn't see the 'e' , I've had trouble with rellies changing the spelling of their names on me but it wasn't always their fault usually it was all down to the enumerator, makes it interesting hunting down the rellie via the census returns, one rellie went from a Boyd to a Bold all by a stroke of the pen. so the answer to that is stop stroking pens it make them bold, lol Jillx |

Arvo all, home again and the fire had gone out so that was first priority. Jood, now you have your tree up you will probably get Hot Matches. If you find a match you are interested in and click 'contact them' (or whatever the wording is) then down the bottom of the form was a permission to view your tree. It used to be automatically ticked and you have to untick it. Check and see. It is so long since I had a match that I can't remember exactly but I know that originally I gave permission without knowing it! You can always double check in your contacts list as Dr Lew said. I go through mine every so often and check them! Actually I haven't done any family history for AGES!!! gray, cloudy and bleak here this arvo. ~~~~~~~~~ Vonny |

Laurie - great news. Jill, no relation to your friends. We don't have an 'e' in our name, well not any more anyway. Having lots of confusion trying to check census records. Some are careless and some are carless. Same with the IGI and free bdm. Just got back from my genie meet and am enthused again. Bit of encouragement goes a long way. Be back later Pam |

Well folks it is a wonderful day . . . . After a few days of being 'mentally deficient' myself, I have just returned from the specialist - been prodded and poked and pricked and photographed (none of it the enjoyable kind) - had the poor old man perplexed till he diagnosed not melanoma - but a cyst that has grown on old scar tissue of an old injection site !!! I was so relieved I really did nearly pmsl !!! Now I can get back to important things like getting up to Qld . . . Have just booked myself on a flight on Thursday, unfortunately no seats on Rays flight so I will arrive early and have a day up on him when he arrives later that night! Just rang son, told him I will organise a hire car and he is going to trust me with his baby - I can hoon around in the Turbo Nissan thingy (poor car wont know what hit it after Glean-a-lead-foot) Already got the list of do's and dont's . . . no low gutters, or steep driveways! dont scrape the mags when you park! . . . . etc etc etc Thinking about it - might be easier to get a hire car for the weekend! Need coffee . . . so catch you all later luv Laurie PS . . had email from Honey Anne, and she asked me to let you all know she is alright, just taking a break, but she will be back - feeling a bit down, and appreciates all the kind messages. |
