Evening all I've been flat out doing work on my FH, needed a break so I came here to read all the goings on over the last day and a bit. So tell me all you Qld'ers (Anna excepted as shes up the mountain) how cold are you talking 15, 18, 20 degrees??? Well if you see 2 oldies running around in shorts and tshirts, dont worry they are probably my parents getting away from our 10 to 13 degrees max and 0 or below over night lol. They are at Townsville tonight and Airlie Beach tomorrow night, also going out to one of the islands, not sure what one you are on Pam? David has to go out at 6.30 in the morning, in the dark and cold, and de-ice the car so he can go to work. Well fingers, toes and everything else crossed that is possible for tonights Tattslotto. Hello to one and all, waving from in front of my heater thinking about going out in zero degrees in the morning for my daily walk, thinking of you all snuggled up in your warm beds :-( Cheers Sue

Oh Jood How gorgeous. I've read that they are keeping dogs around retirement homes now as they are such good company for the residents. We have a golden labrador next door - Barney - and we get to look after him when the neighbours are away. He comes running to the fence with his lead in his mouth as soon as he hears us come outside in the morning. We think that going for a walk for a dog is the equivalent of reading the paper for humans. They sniff and stickybeak and scratch around the place to find out the latest gossip in the doggy world. And of course Barney has to leave a few drops of pee to let his mates know that he has been out and about! His pee tank never seems to run dry! We are off to Katherine's musical - hope the lotto news is good and then you can come to Brisvegas! Take care and keep warm in this icy weather, Luv Anna

Just a bit of trivia I meant to tell you about when I was in hospital. On the Wednesday it was dogs visiting day, and I was honoured by a visit from a beautiful cream labrador named Ben. .. He was absolutely gorgeous. There were 2 other cream dogs visiting other patients. .. I had heard dogs visiting hospitals, but never been lucky enough to meet any. <Ben was the only visitor I had> They certainly would cheer up any really sick patients. Jood

The Sun is out Suzy, but its vey cold, the wind is blowing a good gust for the mad sailboarders who are out there jumping and bobbing about! There are very dark clouds just offshore, so I wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't rain this afternoon. I went for a walk down the street just a little while ago to pick up Rays drycleaning for him, and the wind nearly blew me inside out! I had run for cover into the coffee lounge and have a little treat to get me back home. luv Laurie

Hi Laurie, There are still some things that I won't do for him. I must admit the pills are very pretty, almost the same as the pain killers that I take. Is it cold in the bay today? SuzyQ

Just reread my last post, what I meant to say was that we could start our own group at Yahoo. I will go back and update. Now this message sounds stupid. Would you believe what I did today. Well I am the chief of dishing out daily tablets. At lunch time we just take pain killers if required. At the moment Neville is on antibiotics. This lunch time I took his antibiotic tablet for him.. That is my excuse for being stupid this afternoon. I will find another one for tomorrow. Luv SuzyQ

Hi Wattlers, All this talk of the boards being removed got me thinking. I don't think it would be in GR's best interest to remove the general boards altogether and I think if the situation became close to it, as a group we could talk them around. My main reason for being a member is because of the Wattle club these days. If the general board was removed, we can start our own group at Yahoo. There are many groups including genealogy ones at Yahoo. Neville is a member of the one for hammond Organs, and he gets heaps of information from there. So we don't have to worry, we will not be removed from the WWW. Like most places it is cold today, the sun is shining, but there is a cold wind. I didn't feel as cold last night, and there wasn't any frost this morning. Although I would love it to rain, I hope it stays away on Saturday. Me thinks the Rebel has bought her wrap dress for a little bit of Latin in the park. Lew Lew, are you recovered? Did you send Geshtu home in good condition? Laurie, is the packing finished? Are you still planning to sell your Qld property? We are seriously thinking of making a move. We have a lot to finish off here and Neville isn't really up to it at the moment, so we we just wait and see. We don't really want to move, but health may force it on us. Trifley where do you get your fish? I often look at them in the shop on Ferry Road, there are some lovely ones. When I was a kid, my dad had a tropical fish tank. That all ended after a power outage in winter. We got home to a tank of dead fish. Sorry anoher marathon. I will go now Luv SuzyQ

Hi Pam I'm only just up the hill - Toowoomba - but being on top of the great Divide means our weather is much colder than yours. So, if it's cold on your little Island, what hope is there for the rest of us! Hubby shamed me into going for our usual walk this morning - however we went late at 9.00am which is a concession to the rigours of the weather. The wind would blow your head off - most uncomfortable but at least we can feel virtuous for the remainder of the day! (Looks at thermals and wonders how one can wear thermals under bling!!) Exits singing - 'Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling 'YooHoo' Oh yes it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you' Turns up the airconditioning and puts on me ugh boots. Brrrrrrr! Anna

Afternoon Wattlers. Overcast day in Melbourne. Ripping up floor tiles in Ensuite today, and will be laying new ones during the week.Had a quote to do the job, but to expensive. Some of these tradesmen charge like wounded bull's, $40.00 per square metre ( just to lay them ) so it might take me a little longer to do, but Scrooge McDuck *me* aint payin them prices..lol Gwenda. Thought you would be Crow-ing today, after the hiding the Crows lashed out to the Bombers last night. If this site ever cracked up. i guess there is always MSN.....plus i spend most times on it anyway.....lol Think most peeps do also. Found this the other day, and thought what a goody....lol Letter to a Bank. Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honour it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire salary, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally attend to your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh and blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by cheque, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate. Be aware that it is an offence under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact Status which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof. In due course, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modelled it on the number of button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press buttons as follows: 1. To make an appointment to see me 2. To query a missing payment. 3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there 4. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping. 5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature. 6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home 7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required. Password will be communicated to you at a later date to the Authorized Contact. 8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7. 9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service. Uplifting music will play for the duration of the call. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement. May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year? Your Humble Client Have a good un. Tony Oz...:>))

Afternoon Wafflers Bloody Cat....I think this thread should get a dog to keep her away from our numbers pmsl You have the advantage some times, Cat, as the numbers come up while we are asleep. That's it....someone'll just have to stay up to beat Miss Fast Fingers from over there. I had the same thought last night. What DO we do if this site implodes? I'm going fish shopping today. Our shark, Bruce, died last night (sobs). Mark is away for the weekend and the darn thing died on MY watch. Why do animals do that? Going to have a coffee with Graeme then off to the pet store. See ya later luv Trifley X PS....Rebs...How ya going sunshine...I seem to miss you when I come on here. TX

Good morning Vonny Loved the haiku! I have no idea what we would do if this site lost the general board. This is the first time I have ever 'talked on line' so to speak and I don't know of any other sites which provide this sort of facility. Maybe some of the others are more informed. Luv Anna
