Mind was ticking over 90 to the dozen .. thank goodness most of us have our email addresses with good old Tony. .. I was beginning to think we'd have to start our own chat room somewhere. .. Anyway all's well that ends well. .. Jood |

Good afternoon my Waffling friends, Please don't give me shocks like that. I looked in my email to find a message ' message boards have gone '. My little heart gave quite a flutter, so I quickly clicked on favourites, wattle club and voila, there it is. Panic over. I had all these visions that I would never see any of you again. What would life be like with out a Wattle Club. In that flash of a moment I had even decided to cancel my GR member ship. Now I need help. When I bought my copy of Women's Weekly I got a gift bag with it. In that gift bag was a white plastic box containing sorbent wipes. Are they safe? On the TV advert, when these wipes were used, the man got flushed through a hole in the floor. Is this likely to happen to me. Laurie, when I tried to explain the Queen Pharaoh Trifley of the Nile and her nubian men servants his eyes glazed over and he had a strange look. I don't think he could quite understand me and he changed the subject. It's sunny here again today, but frosted white over in the mornings. I am trying to stay in bed a bit longer these days. Hope you had a fabulous lunch Lew Lew, silly question really, how could you not with your staff. Hope you didn't fall out over him. LOL Lara, you will be glad to get into the warmer climate I am sure. How long do you stay away for? Well must go, things to do Luv to everyone, too numerous to mention. SuzyQ |

Little fluffy yellow duck | Report | 2 Jun 2006 04:35 |
Hi all Talking of ducks !! I have just been talking to my daughter Melanie in America and she was telling me a story about ducks at the appartment block where she lives. Last Sat her girl friend came over and they were going out for dinner. Her friend asked Mel why there were girls running around outside holding out jumpers. Mel went out to investigate and found a couple of girls holding out jumpers catching baby ducks as they jumped from the roof of the third story appartments. The mother was on the ground encouraging the bubs to jump. Apparantly the ducks lay their eggs on the roof and part of the guttering had fallen away. The mum must have decided it was time for the ducklings to meet the 'real' world. Someone told her the same thing happened the week before with another group of ducks. Whether they lay their eggs there to keep them away from snakes or alligators I don't know. There are some lakes in her appartment complex with signs up saying 'Don't go swimming' and 'Don' feed the alligators' !!! Anyway when they went to dinner a short time later, the mother duck was still calling out 'quacks of encouragement'. When the girls looked up, another chick jumped, landed on the grass, bounced onto the concrete, picked itself up, shook its head and waddled off. Then another did the same thing. In all, 10 chicks had jumped three stories to mum. They were so young there was no way they could get back to the roof, so it looks like the alligators wil be having duck in the next few weeks. Ain't life cruel Pam |

Good lunchtime all :) Oooo Lara, elegant writing cuwl. Bet LL's lunch is more interesting than mine. The servants seem to be having the day off here - slack. Welcome to winter but I'm not going to complain cause the rain was sooooo great. Bought some Jasmin rice yesterday so am getting myself used to Thai food - but I can't take hot chilli although don't mind ginger. When I am with my Asian friends at these places they always eat the local food so that is sometimes challenging for me! :) as they all eat hot spices in large quantities :0 But it IS cheaper (if you survive). :))))) The Thyphoid shot should be on Monday. All my other shots are up-to-date as far as I know, and, as it is only for the week in a city, I'll just take a tropical strength insecticide to deal with any mossies etc. The only thing I am not too happy about is that a strong 'consider changing your plans' travel warning has come from our Govt for parts of Thailand, but not where I am going to be. They have an election coming up sometime apparently and not everyone are happy little vegeys. Well, lunch time is almost over so better go and mark some grammar books. ~~~~~~~~~~Vonny |

Afternoon Waffling Wattlers. I'm at an internet cafe ....thought I'd take a bit of a sit down for awhile. Lew....I hope you have a fabulous lunch today. But....PLEASE....make sure Adapa doesn't get handled too much. His skin bruises easily pmsl. I forgot to tell you....the bow tie should be black. That colour looks good against his smooth, shiny, sweaty, muscular skin. Gotta go find a cold air con duct. ~~~~~~~waves to all the nuts. luv Trifley (X^x) |

Joodles - I could cope with the wholemeal ones - just wish the crumpets of today tasted like they did when I was a kid - wonder if my taste buds have disappeared or whether a lot of food is just blah blah bland these days. |

Little beggar isnt he Gwenda? (the cat I mean) Funny you should mention crumpets (after Lew Lew boasting about her breakfast the other morning) - I went out and bought some, but the next day I wondered why they werent yellowy looking. .. You guessed it .. they were wholemeal ones. .. Hope you don't make the same mistake as I did! .. Just not quite the same! Oh I bet Lew Lew has cooked up something really stunning. .. But the chards will probably feature well on the list. .. While we peasants here are eating leftovers. Jood |

Back again Joodles,Laurie et al When you go to the messages and print it doesn't print how you typed - if like me - a pro - you set things out neatly - what you get is how Lara types on here - ppppp - just joking Lara - in other words it just prints in one big block. But sure saves the copy, paste or copy, highlight, print method Joodles - 3rd cat belongs to our Housing Commission neighbour -they have about 4 - one is probably the mother. This is the only one that we have managed to get close to - bit toooooo close now. Chucked her out after she polished off half a can of food that softy (me) gave her, she then jumped on the bench where I'd put our cat's food and got stuck into the dry stuff as well as the mince - will teach me - should have hidden it in the microwave She has a bad habit of climbing the doors and the back one has a cat flap so she knows how to use that too - however with the back door shut cos it's b****y freezing here she just bangs it - anyway I had my shower and she's obviously got the hump with me and gone home - for another feed if she's lucky. Yesterday my boys just sat and watched her gobble the food - power of the pussy - males can be quite pathetic at times - pmsl For those in sunny Qld - it is supposed to reach 11 and guess what it is now - just 5. Hope y'all enjoying your warmth. Lew - enjoy your lunch - what's on the me & u - no don't want to know will make my crumpets look a bit sad and pathetic. Off to get said crumpets, catch up tonight - off to work soon Gwenda |

Morning again all. Lunch is definitely going to be a hoot! 7 women (none of whom have ever been accused of being shrinking violets!), 1 nubian and baby Ruby (who is going to sleep quietly in the corner 'cause she's already use to heaps of noise). I going to take house piccies this weekend (that photos, not pickles, lol). I took some last weekend, but they weren't very good. The light wasn't right somehow, so I'll try againg this weekend. Off to my settlement now and, you're right, it will be quick! Seeya Lew Lew xxx |

Mornin' all Beautiful morn here. Have just spent the past couple of hours riding on this beautiful island. Stopped (for ages) and watched the dolphins play. Jumping right out of the water and having a ball. Anna you won't need your thermals here. Why do you think all the southerners come here for winter, beautiful one day, perfect the next !! Although if the winds come up from down south this afternoon as forecasted, you might want to travel further north. Have a great day everyone Pam |

Good morning , good moring, good morning Beautiful day here again - crisp and clear and warm - but so horribly dry. Good luck with your lunch Lew Lew - hope your man servant performs to expectations. And don't spill red wine on the new rug or dance on the furniture! We've not had the photos yet I notice!! Joodles - hope the cough improves when you've had a shower - the steam seems to work wonders. Hubby found that steam inhalations were effective also. Bit of Vicks or eucalyptus oil in the hot water helps. Have to go and do the grocery shopping - back later. I missed Shazz before she went on hols but we'll all catch up next Saturday - it's getting very close! Rebs - how cold is it in Brisbane at night?? Do I need me thermals??? Can't be too cold if you are going to be swanning around in a frock and limo shoes!! Bye for now XX Anna |
