Have you got one, and what's the best usage you've had out of it?

I bought one as live in Southend on sea, England and am travelling up to Skegness in Kid's half term. Using the Navigator will save using the old fashioned maps and getting lost! Pete

Best usage? Less arguments & sleep. Hubby no longer needs me to navigate therefore less arguments & we don't just go round in circles & i can have a kip!

I`m interested to know which brand people recommend as Lee wants one for his job. Which brand connects immediately to the satellite? Diane:)

Sometimes they do go wrong though & if you come off of a road because of a jam it keeps wanting you to go back on that road. We were going up to Chester & came off of one of the motorways - for about an hour it was trying to get us back on the motorway even though we were getting further away! Once it works out you have changed the route they are good for going through little lanes. Another time we were on the M25 & for som unknown reason it wanted us to get off go round roundabout & get back on going the other way! This could have gone on forever! Penny

Tom Tom is reputed to be the best. We have one and use it most weekends. We have found it works best if you select the postcode of your destination. Somebody mentioned speed cameras, sat navs will only warn you about these if you have downloaded the relevant database and updated the unit using your computer. They are brilliant, I'm hopeless at directions and the Tom Tom is great when we are travelling all over the country attending family history fairs. It's never failed yet to take us right to the door of the venue. We left Wolverhampton some weeks ago to drive to a B&B in Scarborough, we entered the house number and postcode and as we drove down the street in Scarborough it said, 'You have reached your destination' we were right outside the door. It does this every time. I was that impressed with it that I now have Tom Tom on my mobile phone as I used to get lost when I was more than 3 miles from home. Carol www.genealogyprinters(.)com

hubby borrowed seans road angel, then last week they both used it to go to north wales, coming back though sean made an error, he listened tohubby when he said 'trust me, dont do as angel says , dodge traffic, go off here,' well they came home 5 hours later, via coventry and hereford, my geographys not good but thats means they tried to double back on themselves,

We have one also and we where going from Exeter to Kenilworth in Warwickshire and it was really good run till we came up to Bristol then the navigation system told us to go another route as accident up ahead so we did went the way it said we seen all the traffic backed right up, the navigation system took us just in to Wales and back out in front off the accident so we stopped for something to eat and the people where just coming in to services when we were leaving we where an hour ahead of them

Carol's off out galavanting and spending money at the momnent so I'll answer for her. You need a mobile phone that's got Bluetooth. She bought the phone off Ebay and it came with it all set up and ready to use. I think you have to download the map and speed camera database which I think you have to pay for, have a look at the Tom Tom website www.tomtom(.)com for clarification. You also need a GPS positioning device which is a separate little box about the size of a match box and this pairs with your phone using Bluetooth, a bit like one of those ear thingies you use on Bluetooth, once you've downloaded everything onto your phone it's all automatic and FREE to use.
