'Export your family tree to a Gedcom file We are currently working to improve our export Gedcom facility. Unfortunately this means that over the next few weeks will not be able to export Gedcom files from the site. We are looking forward to showing you our new and improved service in the New Year. Please bear with us until then and accept our apologies for the inconvenience.' How long has this been out of action, ??. since before the new year??.

Thanks for letting us know. Looks like its becoming a black hole of information. Imputting info in, getting nothing out. Getting a bit scary.

I have just written to Genesreunited pointing out that when I joined and paid the nexport facility was part of the subscription. It is clear they have a problem they are not admitting to. I have asked them to download my Gedcom at their base and to email it to me. This is very annoying and irritating.

I mailed them ages ago as I have tried to imput my file onto here. Had to delete everything then try but couldnt do it. Then recently there was a page saying that now you dont have to delete your tree but can import over the top of it. Still have not been able to do this. Neve did get a reply either. Gloria Just checked the dates and I mailed them 9/10/05

I wonder if there's a connection between export going down and ITV taking over. Is ITV gleaning all the info for their own purposes? There where no problems before. Why didn't GR inform us first?, we could have took our trees off. Micheal.

Blow me over with a feather..... GenesReunited HAS got the Gedcom facility up and running, its a bit of a goings on though. The exporting gedcom help says you have 2 choices you can this or that. Of course in reality it just exports it after a while to your E mail in-box... GOOD TIP, if youv'e got Outlook express go to Tools, Accounts, Mail. click on whatever name is mentioned in the Account. this will bring up Properties on the right, click on properties then on Advanced. look down page to 'Server timeouts'. most proberly set at 1min 30 secs. I have reset to the full 5 mins........It allways used to take at least 4 mins on the old system. if its more than 5 mins, well, you may not get your gedcom.........................I''m not a computor wizz kid but it makes sence to me....GenesReunited should tell people about that one........Thanks to staff that eventually got the Export Gedcom back online. I was getting worried!. Didn't know about ITV wanting the site. The LDS people would love to get hold of all our hard work onto their databases. And the Mi5 Security Services come to that. Not only would they like our fingerprints, iris scans, photos, current address. But I bet they would like to be able to see at a glance who our current family members are, cousins etc. All the more reason only to imput, deceased family members, with disguised named and dated living members. Lets not make it too easy for them!!.

Adding this so I can keep Peter's instructions. Too tired to try tonight. Bet you nearly fell over Peter when you found you could actually export it!! I've been waiting since about November last year.
