Four children, aged between four and 16, who died in a car crash in Essex, were in a stolen car. The victims, all from Tilbury, were in a Ford Fiesta which was involved in a crash with a Corsa on the A126. The dead children are: Lee Gray, 16; Kezia Adger, 16; Karis Goyette, eight, and Kalli Goyette, four. The mother of the two youngest children, Davina Smith, is receiving treatment for back injuries at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent. A 56-year-old man and 50-year-old woman, who were passengers in the Vauxhall Corsa, escaped without serious injury. The incident took place as the Fiesta was travelling north on Saint Chad's Road from Tilbury towards Chadwell Saint Mary on Tuesday night. The four children were taken to nearby Basildon Hospital where they died. Essex Police said the Ford Fiesta in which the children were travelling had been stolen from the Westcliff area of Essex on Monday. Police said the children were travelling in a stolen car My note: Police are not yet sure whether the mother or one of the children was driving at the time.

Very tragic. Unable to tell who was driving as it seems all of them were thrown out the car. Possibly no seat belts were used. According to the papers, the girls' father was contacted via the Prison Service to tell him the news. He was sentenced for two and a half years last week for crashing a stolen Ford Scorpio into a wine shop and racing off at up to 100mph! The Chief Inspecor in charge of the case has however commented that the car was stolen but said his main concern was to find out how the accidened happened which claimed these four young lives. What a waste!

but surely if they were not in the car (and presumably wouldnt have been had it not been stolen) they wouldnt have been involved in an accident? if the mother was in the car - and it sounds as though she was, either she was driving herself or allowed a 16 year old to drive? (i dont know the fact, so it may not apply)

Unfortunately, in all this someone will have to pay somewhere down the line. The mother or the 16yr old driving the car? They must have known it was stolen! These kids have paid the ultimate price. With their lives. Sorry, but stolen car, and the father has just been jailed for the same offence. Smacks of a family trait. No doubt it will all come out in the wash as they say. We will probably never hear the real story behind it all anyway. Just so sad that these young kids never got a chance to get old and wrinkly like most of us. Sorry, just keep your nearest and dearest close to you and as safe as you can make them. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I feel sorry for the younger children, but as for the rest of them i say they got their just deserts. Its people like that that are all to often taking other innocent lives and cost all of use financially as it puts our insurance premiums up. Roy

Extra bit on the end of that quote 'The father was being contacted in prison while doing a two and a half year sentence for ramming a stolen car through the front of a wine shop' unquote. I feel grief for any life lost, but if the car was being driven by any other than the mother than god help her. Lin

in our local paper it states the mother was taken away and bailed on monday evening regarding a stolen ford orion. the fiesta was also apparently being driven on the wrong side of the road so the poor people in the other car involved who weren't doing anything wrong will also have to live with this tragedy., plus the emergency services involved.
