Did they have children ? Well you say he is YOUR grandfather so I guess one of your parents is one of the children. As for the lady having a name change then there should be a civil partnership certificate somewhere.

Well if you know his surname and her surname you could trawl through the birth indexes for the area and see if any fit with both surnames? Suzanne

Hi Lynda Sorry I didnt get back sooner. The indexes can be trawled free of charge on the Ancestry(.)com web site. (ignore brackets in address). Its slow but Free. Or you can subscribe to one of the pay per view sites whihc are quicker loading. The two generally used are: Familyrealtives.org 1837online(.)com (ignore brackets) Of course you will be looking for births with HIS Surname and her as the mothers maiden name. Suzanne

If you have his address, you can view the electoral Roll for his area, it will only give you adults living there though. June xx

Lynda, write a short note and give your telephone number. You dont have to give your address if you don't want to. Then the ball will be in his court. It may take him a little while to pluck up the courage to answer, so give him a chance. Deanna X
