Incidentally, my husband shares the same birthday with Nostradamus - 14th December - but he's rubbish at predictions. He keeps saying he's going to win the Euromillions or the National Lottery. How wrong can you be? LOL Damanostrus |

One that was has been and gone - he stated that '''The world to an end shall come in nineteen and ninety-one'''. IF it was all supposed to come to an end, in1991 how come he got to 2006-2012-- WW111 Bob( who has never read up on Damanostrus) |

Paul, Nostradamus lived in an age that was ruled with a fist of iron by the Church, when 'heretics' and 'witches' were tortured and/or put to death for their beliefs (often on no more 'evidence' than an elderly lady living alone and owning a cat, which could be classed as a witch's 'familiar) He was a very learned man and travelled around France practising healing with herbs and other substances. He was also an astrologer, which immediately set him against the beliefs of the Church (i e the Roman Catholic Church, as Protestantism hadn't taken hold then). His 'quatrains' (four-line poems) were written in the French language of the time and included Latin words, as well as some which appear to have been made up (e g anagrams). Translating what he wrote into modern English gives many problems. For instance place-names he mentions may have changed over the centuries or 'the King' may refer to whoever reigned in France at the time or to any other monarch at any other time. This all leads to huge confusion, and few actual dates are mentioned in his writings. One that was has been and gone - he stated that 'The world to an end shall come in nineteen and ninety-one'. Well, it didn't, did it? Another reference he made that has been assumed to be a reference to modern times is one to war and 'Hister'. This was taken, last century, to refer to Hitler. In fact, 'Hister' is an ancient name for the River Danube. The fact that so many of his quatrains are misleading to us in modern times means that using them for prediction of future events is very difficult, if not impossible. It's only AFTER events occur that people can attribute the writings of Nostradamus to them - and even then, there's no proof that the interpretations are correct. Nostradamus is an enigma. CB >|< |

Maybe it is happening little by little - the world has seen so many tragic events over the last few years, most recently the collapsed building in Nairobi and another train crash somewhere, also those miners killed in America not to mention all the tragedies since the Tsunami. Seem to be more and more on a regular basis. |

Hmmm. Nostradamus predicted a lot of things that never happened. It's all in the interpretation apparently. |
