He also told me that certain providers including hot male, wan a do and others have blacklisted NTL and you need to contact your provider to ask them to remove NTL from the blacklist. xxhugxx

Hi Further to our conversation earlier, here is the information I promised you: A Blacklist is a database of known Internet addresses (or IP's) used by persons or companies suspected of sending spam. Some Internet Service providers use these blacklist databases in order to filter out spam sent across their network or to their subscribers, by barring mail originating from the IP addresses on the various blacklists. An IP address is your unique location on the Internet. Most modern spam blockers either come with the most common blacklists installed or allow you to 'import' existing blacklists into your spam blocker. This allows you to pre-block a huge amount of spam but you may also, potentially, block legitimate email. Blacklists are not foolproof. There are numerous parties involved in maintaining blacklists, the more commonly used ones are : SpamCop blacklist: http://spamcop.net/bl.shtml MAPS blacklist: http://www.mail-abuse.com/cgi-bin/lookup Distributed Server Boycott List blacklist: http://dsbl.org Spamhaus blacklist: http://www.spamhaus.org/lookup.lasso If you find that you are blacklisted, to get removed you will need to find out which blacklist you (or your ISP) are on and why you were listed. You may find that you are on a blacklist because your PC is infected with a virus that causes your Internet connection to be used to send out spam without you even knowing about it. If your PC is infected with a virus that generates spam, then it is your responsibility to clean viruses from your PC. ntl's User Policy states that you should not use our service to transmit spam, and if you do allow your PC to transmit spam, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ntl services. ntl strongly recommend that you take measures to protect your PC from intrusion and viruses. This can be easily achieved by installing and running an effective, and up to date virus checker, and a firewall. For information on firewalls (protects your PC from unauthorised access), including a special offer on Zonealarm Pro, please visit http://www.ntlworld.com/help/aup/firewalls.html Every widely-used blacklist has a Web page that explains why addresses are listed there. Contact the maintainers of the blacklist and ask to be removed. In some cases, all you need to do is fill out a Web form. You can normally find the website address in the contents of the 'bounced' E mail sent to you by the people you have been blacklisted with. These will give a comprehensive list of instructions on who to contact and how to contact them. Please note that ntl do not pass on customer email addresses or personal information to any third parties who may generate spam emails. For further information about spam and how to deal with it please visit our 'Dealing with Spam' section of the ntlworld.com website: http://www.ntlworld.com/help/aup/dealingwithspam.php I hope this will answer your queries, should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Kind regards Nilipt ntl Technical Support Bureau
