Just in case anyones interested in how this panned out... Our combi boiler is dead, deceased, nailed to its perch. The heat exchanger needs replacing, and that won't be done until tomorrow morning, so no heating in the meantime (there was enough hot water left in the for a shower this morning fortunately...)

I'd given up hope of getting anything through the football league to be honest - I mailed about 100 people associated with the local football league about 2 months ago. I had one 'send me a sponsor form and I'll give you £20' (which never arrived), and one cheque for £25... I thought that was going to be it, then this one arrived today :o) its still cold here, despite having the fire going... no sign of British Gas yet. It's no longer wet tho, as I switched the heating off and the leak stopped.

Sorry to see you've had problems, Paul. We've had a similar sort of fortnight. Heavy colds starting before Christmas, and only just recovering now Microwave oven blowing up and stopping the kitchen sockets working Kitchen ceiling bowing due to a (yet unfound) leak somewhere under the tiled bathroom floor) Being unable to receive emails from various people who have phoned or PMd to say they've sent lots Finding the cinema full when we went to try and see the Harry Potter film and now the builders have resumed work on a house a few doors down, so the low-pitched hum of their generator (that was going for hours each weekday all through December) has started up again! The students will all be back in town next week, so the peace and quiet we've enjoyed over the Christmas period will soon be gone, and we'll have cars parked across our drive all over again. Life as usual! I hope your problems end when the boiler is fixed - and congratulations on keeping the money rolling in. Well done. CB >|<

Well, I'm having an 'interesting' week. First of all my broadband, which has been playing up on and off for weeks, finally gave up the ghost on Sunday. Then, last night when I got home from work, I found our combi boiler in the kitchen spewing water all over the place. Still waiting for British Gas to come out, they said it would be last night, but they didn't turn up... they've now promised to get here 'before 6', so I'm stuck at home with no heating. On the other hand, I've managed to get the broadband working again, the password on the router had become corrupt... so I might be freezing but at least I can talk to you lot/do some work. However... to cheer me up a bit... I've just had a completely unexpected cheque for £80 for the pink fund arrive. So thanks very much to Mr Peter Harris of Broxbourne Borough FC for cheering me up :o)
