Drink plenty of water or honey and lemons and rest if you can. I had the recent lurgy that's been going around where the throat infection developed into a cough and got some pastilles called Vocal Zone. They seemed to bring some ease. Hope you feel better soon Aileenx

Val -sorry to hear you're not well. I have just recovered from an unbelievably sore throat plus aches and pains. I also felt REALLY awful - like a constant bad hangover. I was prescribed a 10 day course of penicillin by the doctor. Apparently penicillin works for bacterial throat infections but not viral ones. If you can see whitish spots at the back of your throat or on your tonsils, it's the bacterial variety. I hope you start to feel much better very soon.

I had the sore throat a few weeks ago, I used 'chloraseptic throat spray' from the chemist, it's good if you can use it. + plenty of rest and fluids. Hope you get better soon *~* Heather

Hi there. Here in NZ we use Manuka Honey - just put one teaspoonful in your mouth and let it gently melt and run down your throat. You can now buy Comvita Manuka Honey in the UK. It is used in the hospitals here for various problems. Leg ulcers etc. A really good healing agent. Hope you feel better soon. Mavis NZ

From one with laryngitis - nothing has cured me so far, but honey and lemon makes it feel better. Lemsip Max Strength is good too. Chloraseptic Spray was excellent, but I can't go out. At night I take Benylin (not the non-drowsy One) so I can get a good nights sleep. I am checking the site to see if anyone comes up with something else. Hope you get better soon. x

Zinc and peppermint tablets from the health food shop are very good for sore throats, just suck them til they dissolve, the zinc works right at the spot and the peppermint tastes good. Also take a high dose of vitamin c tablets for a few days - I find both these rememedies help.
