Er - didn't they give you a diet sheet? If not, why not? Practically every food on sale in the Supermarket has a list of contents, which will tell you how much fat is in it. Very few processed foods are completely fat-free, so you would do better to go for basic foods which you cook yourself, avoiding Dairy Products, meat, fish, eggs and cheese! Tofu is fat-free and although tasteless, can be jollied up with flavourings. Quorn is almost fat-free and is reasonably pleasant to eat. Pulses are almost fat-free and again can be made quite tasty with the addition of tomatoes etc. Olde Crone |

Hello Olde crone No diet sheet I had a phone call from the hospital the friday before Christmas and the woman on the phone said we have your referral letter and I am sending out your appointment but the Specialist/consultant cant remember what she called him has asked that you follow a Fat free diet until you see him! I had 16 people here for Christmas so decided to wait until after the festivities were over. Thank you for your suggestions I will have to try and find a diet sheet online somewhere. Deborah |

There are GOOD fats and BAD fats. The fats found in salmon contain Omega 3 fatty acid. This fat is good for you. Also the fat in Avocado and olive oil to name just a couple of foods. Avoid frying meat. Broiling is best. Chicken and pork are lower in fat than beef and lamb. Just a few suggestions..............Deb |

If you 'crave' dairy foods, there are some which are fat-free or virtually fat-free. Quark (soft cheese) is one - a bit insipid but has a creamy texture, there are also fat-free versions of yoghurts and fromage frais. My sister had to do this diet some years ago when they thought she had gall bladder problems (it wasn't that in the end) but she managed OK and lost pounds! Good luck and all the best, Sheila x |

W.W. do Low Fat Meals, which can be expensive. Most Supermarkets do Low Fat/Fat Free Foods which are much cheaper. Pat |
