Does anyone have or know anything about Medion computers currently on offer at Somerfield supermarket? Are they any good? |

No idea, you may be better going to a computer shop. Granny |

Don't know about Medion, but we have looked at loads recently, as apparently Tesco's and such you can't upgrade, so last week opted for a Dell, bought on line. 80GB, everything son needs with printer and 17' flat screen and came to £466. I have spec if you want a copy Kim |

Both my old laptop and my new PC are Dell and I have been extremely pleased with them. I thought the software with the new package was a bit basic though and upgraded it to include Word, rather than just the basic Works software. Jay |

Just be a bit careful buying from supermarkets, whilst they might be cheap you pays your money.....etc. We bought a Dell three years ago cost £850 no probs and service was brilliant. This is the sort of model you can get for 450 notes as Kim says, and with a flat screen thrown in. Not cutting edge but proven technology, reliable, well built and upgradable. |

My son works with puters and all of us have Mesh computers excellent service. He also reccomends the ones Aldi sell as they have top spec hardware in but they do not come with monitors. Wendy.xxx |

You can't beat Dell for reliability or price. Their back-up and help is excellent too. Don't take my word for it, check with mags such as Which Computer. Generally, with a few exceptions, electronic equipment sold in supermarkets is cheap rubbish. len |

The make doesn't matter a bit. What is important is - Will it do what you want it to? Is it the best price? Is the seller reliable (will they go bust before i get delivery)? Warranty? First decide what you want it to do. A bit of internet chat on here, a few e-mails and some google searches don't take much power so you won't need a machine capable of running demanding games. Buy What pc or something similar, read the reviews and general advice and look hard at the specs to decide what you need. Mesh, Dell etc have been around a while but so was Tiny so buy with a credit card to get the protection. DONT buy extended warranty it's not worth it but make sure you know what will happen if the damn thing goes wrong a week or 9 months later. Good Luck Bob |

Snowflake We have had 2 Mesh computers with no probs whatever. Good value and clear setup instructions. Current is Compaq - good price (in a sale) but could have done better. |

Thanks everyone - o.h. was getting so peed off with this one going haywire that he just saw the other one and thought 'Oh that's cheap enough for now' but I am glad I asked on here cos he would be better to listen to tried and tested reports about computers that cost a little more than take a chance on something no one knows much about. Maybe he will go shopping over the w/e. Thanks again. |
