Bob is quite correct, there is a Big Brother thing going on and it has been done in a very underhand way without telling the public. There is a plan to clock all cars at regular intervals and to check the registrations against the DVLC computer, supposedly in the interests of tracking down stolen cars, but quite conveniently allows the government to clock the whereabouts of every car on the road. Secondly, the speed check thing is part of these huge gantries that have been erected on the motorways. I suppose that you thought that these were there to provide usefull messages to travellers? Nope. They contain sophisticated tracking equipment which clocks every single car that passes under it, send it to a central computer which not only clocks that you were there, when you reached the next gantry, but computes the speed that you are travelling as well. |

Most people who are against cameras are people who have been caught speeding, if you dont speed you wont get caught and you have less chance of killing someone. so keep the cameras and for all those people who get caught speeding learn your lesson and slow down. |

So the government should, for too long the vehicle drivers have taken the brunt of blame for accidents, but how many have hit predestrians, while travelling at the regulation speed because thoughtless people just step into a road without looking?.or ride a bike through red lights into the path of a vehicle. It's time the other road users and predestrians were made to take responsibility as well.as vehicle drivers.Oh and yes,it's time the police started touring schools again as well,to educate the young who seem to delight in the deliberate dawdling agross roads to annoy drivers when they should be on the paths..Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

I think we should get rid of cars and go back to horses and carriages. no speeding, little deaths, and i quite like the idea of taking 2 days to get anywhere and having to stay in an inn on the way to places. but i'm a bit weird. lol! |

do not hold your breath!!! have you noticed that on most main roads, spaced about a kilometer apart, a pole with a solar array at the top? and in the road at the same spot two rectangular grids? you can bet your life that they are traffic tracing loops.of some kind. something after the average speed cameras.........maybe. what with identichips in numberplates....gps traffic toll roads........the list is endless Big Brother is not only on the telly!!! Mark my words.... Bob |

Unfortunately drivers, myself included, have the nasty habit of being aware of speed cameras which makes us nervous. I can drive all day at a steady 30, 40, 60, 70 or even 90 when I am relaxed, but nervousness makes my speed erratic. This is not good news for other road users. So, yes, Lapdancer, I do think the money should be spent on Road Improvements and other means of Safety. |
