I've had this three times practically the same, got in touch with paypal and it was nothing to do with them, said they were looking into it, apparently as soon as they close one site another opens up/ If you google paypal to get their official site you can report it to their security dept. Its called phishing or spoof mail. Len

Absolutely a scam. I,ve had this several times & I dont have a Paypal account or ever brought anything off E Bay. Lots of Bank scam emails coming thro too,again from banks I,ve Never banked with. I just delete em!! Shirley

A good rule of thumb is never to go into a financial site via a link in an unsolicitated e-mail. The fact that it addresses you as 'Paypal User' rather than by name is a dead giveaway!

Colin, PLEASE tell your son to be very careful. I was almost 'got' by a buyer who wanted my item to be posted direct to another country, even though he was based in the UK (for a present) apparently they then pay with a forged/stolen credit card. Of course this is slightly different but I would be willing to bet the buyer either pays with a duff card, or even worse, wipes out your sons account and is then untraceable because the goods have not been shipped to a real address. As for any e-mails asking for account/password details from Paypal or ebay, I would not reply trhough a link just incase. Better to be safe than sorry. Claire xx

My son had an item on E-Bay and the initial bidder offerred the highest, the bidder is from elsewhere in Europe but says he is working in the UK and would like my sons bank details to facilitate a bank transfer............also the bidder is not in a hurry to pick up the item.... it is too heavy to send.......... this definately sounds dodgy to me...................he has E-mailed the bid saying that he does not wish to give his details over the net to a complete stranger.......but he still won't accept that it is a scam... perhaps I am too suspicious

THIS IS ALMOST DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!! We had this a couple of weeks back - if you click on the links, you have to give your password and the - unbelievably - it asks for your PIN no.! The link does not link to PayPal but to the scammers site which looks almost identical. Best thing to do is go to the PayPal site typing in the address in your browser. There is advice there on scamming (plishing!) Hope this helps Allie

Its a scam I was inundated with these until I changed my email address. It is not from ebay. You should report it to ebay as spoof mail Sue

I've had quite a few of these over the last few months, As far as I know I don't even have a pay pal account! The only time I use it is to buy certs from GRO. I have just ignored the messages, and it certainly hasn't affecetd my ability to buy certs on line, much to my husbands disgust!! Suex
