Funny you should mention that - this morning we had our christmas trees delivered at work and the man brought the biggest bunch of mistletoe I can remember seeing! He said that it was scarce as chicken's teeth this year. so, sorry I have my supply in hand - you'll have to devise another method! lol Jacqui

Looking round the web it looks as if it depends where you are. Past predictions of its demise due to the decline of apple orchards have proved ill founded as is is migrating to other trees. The main problem is the misletoe rustlers who tke the whole plant and don't leave enough for re-growth next year. Too much to ask that we buy responsibly I suppose. Bob

If anyone does manage to find some real mistletoe, try planting some for next year. Just take the berries and a pocket knife, make a small cut in a high branch and squash a berry over it. Be careful not to get the berry juice on you fingers as it could irritate.

Thanks for that Lunar - I was going to ask how to propogate some for next year. I thought it was only Apple Trees it grew on? do I take it that any tree other than a conifer will do? Jacqui

yep the berries are poisenous so keep them away from children and animals. I think any tree will do but evergreens (pines and things) don't tend to be so good (probbally because the make antiseptics)

This is trotted out every year, I think it's to justify the high price. Just take a drive around Somerset, there's masses of it. Vivienne

Saw barrow loads being sold in Covent Garden last Sunday, would've bought some if i knew it was going to be scarce (again) this year.
