Hi All Maybe someone can enlighten me on this Last Christmas I bought my son the Star Wars Trilogy I didn’t notice at the time but they were episodes 4, 5, 6 Asked my daughter in Law for some ideas for a Christmas present this year for my son and she said Oh you could get him the Star Wars episodes 1, 2, 3. I went to get them today and they have just been released this year. What I couldn’t understand was why did 4,5,6 come out before 1,2,3. I am not a Star Wars fan so no nothing about it really. I was just wondering, cos it had me confused. Regards Jackie |

4,5 and 6 were the new triology. 1.2 and 3 were the originals, but have been re-released, does that make sense! Heather |

The first three films made were 4, 5, and 6....so they were first released....then they went back and made 1,2, and 3......so it worked as if you saw the present (as in films) first....then the films were made showing the lead up....strange but true XX |

jackie, After the original Star Wars film was released in 1977 (I think), it was swiftly announced that this was the first part of a trilogy. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi followed in the next few years. This is the original start wars trilogy, that was released on DVD a couple of years ago. At some point, I know now when, The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, statted that these were not the start of the saga, and that he would at some point revisit it to make some prequel films, showing the story of how the events covered in the first film came about. The first star wars film ('77) was renamed 'Star Wars Episode IV - a New Hope'. Three films have been made and released over the last few years, episodes I-III - these are the ones that fit in before the originals, and the last of those three was released this year. Hope that helps ? Paul ps, originally it was thought that the first three films were the middle set of 9 - but George Lucas has since taken a step back, and said that return of the jedi is the last one. |

Hi Jackie Historically Star Wars did everything the other way round. All other films start at the beginning and then work on into the future with the sequels. Star Wars started at the end and worked backwards Lemon Nelly is right :-))) Love the original 3 films still trying to get into the new ones but don't think I will ever enjoy them as mcuh as the originals :-( Pat x |

Jackie, I grew up with Star Wars - the original (episode 4 lol) was the first film I can really remember seeing at the cinema - I would have been 7. Have been a fan ever since (although I'm not fanatical, so noone chuck trivia questions at me because chances are I won't know lol). Glad to be of help :) |
