This poem is the one I asked about early on in my visits to this board. I had it when my son was small and made it into a framed picture for my parents. Now they have passed on I have it back to keep forever. Want to do one for my son's girlfriend who has a 5 year old - will have to borrow him one afternoon soon. It's a lovely momento - not cheesy at all.

That would be really nice, and any Grandparent would love to have it. It will be treasured and shown to all friends. Do it. Granny

As a grandparent I'd be thrilled to get such a present. I wish I'd thought to do such things with my own children when they were little.

That is just the sort of present I would appreciate. They seem to grow in value as the years pass. I have loads of painted stones, decorated jam jars and all sorts of treasures that both my children and my grandchildren have made. I much prefer that sort of gift to any that can be bought in a shop. :>)

Dawn I would treasure it especially as now my one and only grand daughter is a teenager and doesn't want to know us that much!!!!

I would treasure it. I have a letter that my granddaughter slipped into my painting case, at a time when the spelling was atrocious and some of the letters were back to front. But every so often, especially at a time when she may have upset me,unintentionally, I read it and all is forgiven. Its a lovely present. go ahead. June xx

Hi You could stick one of the little calendars on he bottom. If for some reason they don't like it they can throw it away after the year. If they love it they can frame it! I think they are cuter the longer you keep them as your little ones grows you think back to how small they were! Penny

I know I am not a grandparent and I do find the poem cheesy - but even I got a bit emotional the first time it came home from the childminder. How embarrasing. (You are sworn to secrecy) RW

Trust me they will love it! I got tea towels and the kids put their hand prints on in fabric paint for my grandmas last year. I also got the handprint poem and laminated it and stuck those little calendar thingies (you know, like the ones you used to do at school) for aunties and uncles. They thought it was really sweet. You caould also laminate them and use them as placemats. :o) Claire xx

Think it was Lemon put up a Fingerprints poem. Have printed it off and am going to frame it and get my three children to put their handprints round it and give it to my parents. Do you think its too cheesy or will the parents that have everything like it?
