Winter Drawers Ever Near | Report | 3 Dec 2005 10:03 |
Hubby who is never ill, has come down with flu symptoms. Last night was horrendous. He coughed so much from 1a.m until 5a.m. that the right side of his chest is really painful and his head is pounding. Have tried the paracetemol and the chesty cough remedy but no joy. Typical the doctor's surgery isn't open on a Saturday anymore and the earliest appointment is next Wednesday. Hopefully there won't be a huge waiting time at the hospital. Started to feel a bit guilty about going up there but then remembered just how much he pays into the NHS. Wish us luck. See you all later. |

Don't feel guilty, your husband obviously needs to see a doctor, and if the surgery is closed then you have no choice, if you leave it until Wednesday he could by then have a chest infection and all that goes with it. No you go with a clear conscience. Hope hubby is feeling better soon. Sue |

Worth going now, if he has got pleurisy if its not treated it could become pneumonia. Dont feel guilty. |

Dont you have a number to ring the out of hours surgery? We have to ring our usual doctors number, then a message tells you to ring another number. You speak to someone who either sends a doctor to you (whoever is on call), or you go to the local out of hours place. Ours is the town clinic. My husband found once that it was much better service than trying to get an appointment with our own surgery. Margaret |

Hi, Just got back. Overall it took 90mins at A&E. I am impressed. He's been given a course of Amoxicillin, told to rub his chest with Vick and breath in an inhalent. I thought he might have decided to take himself back to bed but no, my little soldier has struggled down the road to watch a football match at the club! Men!!! |

LOL at least he has his priorities footie on Saturday very important & he is probably well pleased A&E didn't interfere with it too much. I am pleased he is ok Aileen ;-))) 90 minutes would be normal for our A&E receptionist to get to you, let alone any Doctor to see you, I think that your Hospital has incredible efficiency or just no sick people to attend to :-))) Pat x |
