I was wondering what effect limescale has on your body. I've been feeling poorly all week and couldn't find a reason why. I've realised my kettle needs descaling. It can't be good for you surely? My allergies have all been a lot worse this week. In the end I took some milk thistle for my liver because I thought I needed detoxing. I feel a lot better now.

I think in small quantities its actually good for you, but i think too much is bad.

yes i use the water filter all the time. it only need changing about every 3 months though.

I searched it up, and it has something to do with body fat and hows its used. But I dont think its the problem of limescale in the body so much but rather that it harbers germs in it, and buggers up your kettle.

Do you think my kettle is breeding germs then Paul?

I dunno, its wet, gets warm. (oooeeerrr) maybe. I dont really understand it very much really. I thought boling the kettle would kill the germs, but obviously not if its got limescale in it.

I'm sure that limescale is not harmful to you. If you get a water softner, you shouldn't connect it to the drinking water. You can descale your kettle by boiling up some water and adding a teaspoonful of citric acid. Not to be used on chrome kettles though. Stainless steel and plastic is OK. David

Its calcium carbonate. Good for acid indigestion, building bones and warding off osteoporosis. Hard water tastes better too and makes good tea. Len

the water should be ok, it just look funny. You can get descaler at the supermarket. Using filtered water for boiling will cut down on the scale in the future. Must disagree with Len as I can't stand the taste of hard water so have had to buy a filter jug to get around it.
