Absolutely appalling. Respect should be taught from a very young age and is learnt in the home. I do hope this elderly gentleman suffers no ill effects.

he and others like him are the reason we should never let today of all days be forgotton. respect costs nothing but is hard to earn. those youths need taking on a battlefield tour to show what they should be grateful for!

She, This is terrible but it did cross my mind, if the gentleman had hit back at the little ****** with his walking stick, he would probably been dealt with more harshly than the little ****** June xx

Fred, i have to agree with you, it's time for change BY the people, not gov't. If you are old or have a disability of some kind, you can if possible batter sh*t out off them, THAT is of a ds who was round investigating a serious assault. Micheal.

Fred - this chap has never hurt a soul. Even yet at his age he travels by train and plane all over the world to lecture on various subjects. He is so quick-witted. Yet the little oik - if he is caught will be told not to do it again grrrrrrrr

Sheila What a horrible thing to happen to him and for him to remain so courteous. Wish there were more around like him. Joy

I often see a charming elderly gentleman on my bus route into town. He is so courteous and mannerly. His wife has recently been admitted to a nursing home - she has Alzheimers and was becoming a danger to herself. I used to see them both as they went about the supermarket, he adores her and she felt the same about him. He always made sure that she was as well turned out as she had always been before the illness took hold. Well today I met him at the bus stop in town. I enjoy his conversations, he is knowledgeable about all manner of things . He had a mark on his face but I didnt like to ask what had happened - but then he told me that some little oik had pushed his into a wall and stolen his WALKING STICK. The man is in his mid 90's for goodness sake - all I could think about was WHY?????? And know what - HE offered to help me on the bus with my bags - ever the gentleman
