Rosalyn I think its a case of horses for courses. Some people who've posted here say it was great and they might be right. We didn't think it offered as good value for money as we thought it should given the costs and its reputation. Having said that, it depends on when you go, what classes/treatments you have and what staff are on duty at the time. To us our weekend was a freebie and as such we were satisfied. But I wouldn't have bought the weekend we had at the price they were charging and though I've been sent flyers since offering the 2 for 1 offers I haven't been tempted. Angela

Oh dear, Angela. Had great hopes for it as it looks lovely. My friend and I went to Stobo Castle in Peebles and weren`t too impressed with it -pool was lovely , food and rooms were nice but the the therapists were 'ODD'-dressed in black and they came out in a line and shouted out your name. Treatments were dear too. Rosalyn

I went there a year ago. My hubby won a weekend for two in a competition and donated it to my sister and I for a girly trip away. It was nice, but not as nice as I expected it to be. I have used spa pools/clubs in the past and given the reputation of Ragdale I expected it to be something special. My sister was disappointed having been to similar health clubs for weekends previously. The pool which I was looking forward to using was particularly chilly and the hot tub was only luke warm. We took a couple of classes and the trainers were, frankly, indifferent. I was dubious about their qualifications. Another issue I had was that our weekend came with a free treatment each of our choice. We tried to book the treatments as soon as we arrived but they are so busy at weekends that neither of us could book the treatment we wanted. We both ended up booking facials and manicures (not our first choices) after our official checking-out time as it was the only way to do it. And then we were kept waiting long beyond our appointment times. Everybody else seemed to be in the same boat. Watch the professionals who give the treatments. They 'prescribe' products on a little card you are supposed to take into their shop and hand in to the cashier. Its a way of getting you to buy very, very expensive stuff that you really don't need and won't use again. Having said all this it was nice to get away, and the food was very good and plentiful. So long as you go into it with your eyes open it can be a good weekend. Angela

Haven´t been there myself - but a friend of mine goes there quite regularly - all the way from Spain - so I presume it must be good.

Hi, I've been, only for a day. My husband treated me for my xmas present. Sister-in-law came as well. A gorgeous place to be pampered. My package included a massage etc but we paid to have a couple of extras. Would recommend it. Hilary.x
