i was doing my driving lessons the other year, had a car, was ready to do my test but struggled with theory, after attempting twice and failing twice i gave up! also due to my ex not really wanting me driving! gave my car away and everything! Now we have decided that i will start up again. We are not gonna get a car but i have been told i can borrow my s.mums anytime for days/weekends...im pretty sure i can get day insurance ect! Thing is its been 2 years since i had a lesson, and although i drive really well and with no struggle im so nervous about booking an appointment again! feel stupid but cant help it! xx

I had 3 lessons bought for my 21st. After them I didn't drive again until I was 25. I had 10ish more lessons and passed my test 1st time. You can do it. Have faith in yourself. You'll be fine. Make sure you get an instructor who understands how nervous you are, and they should be able to put your mind at ease.

thanks ladies! i dont want to go back to my old instructor, but i dont know who to go to..i worry about how nice they will be to me lol, cos if i get a horrible instructor, i will either sit there crying or deliberatley crash their car, so i have to be careful who i go with! anyone have any good suggestions on schools? xxx

never heard of DAY insurance ! Go for a mid priced reputable company - some will pick you up from work, some wont, depends what you want. Bigger companies will give you an assesment lesson if you explain the situation, not treat you like a novice good luck jess

Definately do it. I passed 1st time at 17 but didn't drive for years. Then after a fairly good stint again didn't drive, this time 10 years!!. Then another gap and now I have been back driving for the past 4 years and wonder why I had all those gaps. It's strange even after all that time not driving it comes back to you. Dianex btw after the 10 year gap I booked an appointment with BSM for a refresher. We were going down the road, pretty busy traffic. We got pulled by the police I thought what have I done. Basically the instructor had taken his L thing down because I wasn't a learner and they had pulled us over because of it. So I thought I'm not having any more lessons I just got on with it. I know it's a bit different as you haven't yet passed. But just go for it.

Ask around a bit for instructors. Have you had any friends learn to drive in the last few years? Or neighbours? They may be able to tell you the instructors to avoid for your issues, if not to recommend one.

Go for it!! It is independance. Anyone of average intellegence who practices, can do it. So you will walk (sorry, drive) it. Best wishes Anne X
