I have for the last two days been sorting out the home of my late Uncle. Lots to go to the tip-ok- but lots of clothing and bedding that is perfectly good. I wouldn't ever pass on anything that had 'had it' and have a black sack full of vests, socks, pants and Sports shirts all in new condition, many with the labels on. My local homeless shelter will not accept them UNLESS they are in the packets - The pants never were in packets but still have the labels on.Ditto vests I guess they have reasons for their 'regulations' but when pants were not bought in packets..... Have 3 bin bags full of blankets. guess where they are going? NOOOOOOoooooooooo Shall just leave them where i know they will be found and apprecaited by our local homeless. anyone else come across this? Jess x |

Lindy's idea sounds good Jess. I had a similar problem once with brand new fluffy toys. Dr Barnados wouldn't take them as they weren't boxed. Chrissie x |

Morning, Jess. Jess - is there a Salvation Army near you? At the one where I work there is what is called the ''meal run''; a team of people meet in a certain place and take a meal and tea / coffee for homeless people, and they take clothes and blankets too. Sometimes people come in the shop here and bring clothes specially labelled for the meal run. Worth a try? :-) Joy |

Just wondering if the people that could benefit from the garments know about the regulations. Would the homeless shelter turn down underwear that was in its original packaging but had been opened. Good luck with this Jess. Maureen |
