These are fairly common, messages that purport to be from ebay, paypal, or various other sites (often banks). They're always fake. In fact they talked about these on watchdog last night. |

Thank you for contacting eBay's Trust and Safety Department. We can confirm that the email you reported was NOT sent by, nor is it endorsed by, eBay or PayPal. Please delete the email immediately and do not enter any information into the email or any web sites linked from the email. If you believe you have entered personal information into a spoof email or a spoof web site, you need to take immediate action to protect your identity. To find out what action to take, or to learn more about spoof emails and web sites, please visit the Spoof section of our online Safety Centre: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/safetycentre/spoof.html We take this problem very seriously and are working diligently, together with law enforcement, to address the situation. We are currently investigating the source of this email to take further action. Your account status has not changed and your listings have not been affected. We advise you to be very cautious of email messages that ask you to submit information such as your credit card number or your password. eBay and PayPal will never ask you for sensitive personal information such as passwords, bank account or credit card numbers and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) in an email. If you ever need to provide information to eBay or PayPal please open a new Web browser, type www.ebay.co.uk or www.paypal.com/uk, and click on the 'site map' link located at the top the page or other site menus to access the page you need. If you have any doubt about whether an email message is from eBay or PayPal, please forward it immediately to [email protected] or [email protected] and do not respond to it or click on any of the links in the email message. Please do not change the subject line or forward the email as an attachment. Keep in mind the [email protected] and [email protected] email addresses are reserved for handling reports of attempts to impersonate eBay or PayPal. In order to investigate these reports in a timely manner, we can only accept forwarded messages at these addresses. You can also check your My Messages page in your My eBay area on the eBay web site. If a copy of the email you received does not appear in My Messages, then it did not come from eBay. Once again, thank you for alerting us to the spoof email you received. Your vigilance helps us ensure that eBay and PayPal remain safe and vibrant web sites for our Community. Please note that this email has been sent to you as part of an automated process. Please do not reply to this email as you will not receive a response. As always, our goal is to help you with your questions as quickly and accurately as possible. June - I get these with monotonous regularity even though I have never held an ebay account. All I have ever done is bought something on the site. I just delete them immediately, so if you receive more of the same just scrub them. |

These are very common as are the ones purpotrating to be from Paypal. forward to spoof at ebay you will find these address' on your ebay page. Also now each message that does originate from ebay goes into a message list on your ebay page so you know it has come from them, send to spoof and delete. I had one from Amzaon the same the other day. They have an address to forward spoofs to as well so they must be common too. Never Ever click on a link always go to the site and use your home page.
