As some of you may remember, my 22yr old Son, broke his wrist mid August. A week later he had to have a 'pin' put in. He went to the hospital last Friday and the Scaphoid bone is still not showing any signs of healing. He is now in plaster cast yet again and has to have a Bone Graft next month. Apparently he will have bone removed from his hip and this will then be grafted onto the broken Scaphiod bone. Does anyone know if it will be a long process after this op, or will he be able to return to work soon after? Jenny. x |

Jenny I don't think he'll be able to return to work straight away and he may still be in plaster, but I may be wrong. Especially as he has a dirty job, |

Hi Jenny Hubby had a graft taken off his hip to replace a bone he broke in his neck. He said it didn't take long to recuperate but it bloody hurt where they took the graft off his hip. Said it felt like he'd been hit by a bus - and my hubby is no whimp! |

Jenny, some people know about my son being attacked and his arm shattered - he too had a pin and plate put in but it wasnt successful - 4 weeks ago he had a bone graft (taken form hip) its healing rally well - he isnt in plaster as his surgeon believes in 'letting the air get about it' he is undergoing physio but cant work just now because of the injury he sustained. He was in hospital on the Monday for the op and was home by tea time on the Tuesday (this was in Victoria though) He is back at the hospital on Halloween and is hoping that they will allow him to return to work - even if only on light duties. It hasnt stopped him being able to drive. |

Thanks for info, Ladies. Son works for Lexus, car mechanic. It is his right wrist he has broken and he is right handed. Hospital he has to have the op at, is about an hour and half on the train for me to get to. So hopefully he will only be in overnight by the sound of things. Jenny x |
