Thank you to everyone who replied about my little black beetles. As I had hoped, a few of you out there have seen them too. I will put all your suggestions into practice. Thanks again! Janet |

Janet is right they are weevils. You will have to throw away all your dried stuff. They will get in everywhere, semolina, flour and anything of that nature. So check it all. Wash the cupboard out thoroughly with bicarbonate of soda. Deanna X |

I have had them a couple of times, washed all the cupboards out and not had them since. i have a suspicion they are sometimes already in the flour. hello Daphne, not seen you on here for a while, or have I just missed you? Ann Glos |

Weevils, they are harmless but get into all dried foodstuff in your store cupboard in warm weather. Getting more common now with central heating. To get rid of them you'll need to throw out everything dried they could be in and give the cupboard a good wash out and decant things into something like Tupperware as soon as you bring them home. Alternatively as folk in other countries do, learn to live with them. |

They sound like 'Flour Mite's' to me. If I were you, I would throw away the flour. Keep the new flour stored in sealed plastic containers. Google 'flour Mites' for info. Deb |

Hello, I wonder if anyone out there knows what the microscopic black beetles crawling up the insides of my bag of flour are? I have only had it 3 weeks. I tried to sieve it but they are so small they came through the holes. They have also got into the semolina and sugar. Have had trouble with these before. Are they already in the flour when it is packed? Any ideas welcome. Thanks. Janet |
