Any good?? Worth investing in one or not?? Which brand would you recommend?? ***UPDATE*** - I'm still confused - I have seen several I like that do DVD-RW & DVD-R CD VCD etc - also mentioning PAL & NTSC - do I need to worry about these two thingys too much ????? Also do ALL DVD/VCR combi recorders record from tape to DVD and vice versa?? some seem to lack that info in the details. |

I would recomend a LITEON DVD recorder take rewritables or you can record on either + or - DVDs and I believe they record region free too. Paul |

We have a Panasonic and it's great. Make sure you get one that will take ram discs that can be used over and over again. Some recorders will only take the sort of discs that you can only record on once. These are fine if you want to record things like films that you want to keep, but if you want to use it like a video recorder to record TV programmes to watch and then delete, make sure it can do that. Ours does and you can record on the discs up to about 10,000 times. The quality is so much better than video. Kath. x |

All recordable DVD players, no matter how expensive, will have blips every now and again, as relatively speaking it's quite an unreliable medium. That said I've never too much trouble with mine and wouldn't go back to videos if I could (which, of course, I couldn't as you can hardly buy them anymore). If your budget can stretch to it, it's a good investment to get a hard-disk recorder (or, at least, a recordable DVD with a 'record to hard-disk' feature on it). I wish I'd got one, although they are a fair bit more expensive (although coming down all the time) as they really are reliable, having barely any moving parts - you also don't need to buy any discs unless there's something you want to transfer to disc to keep. As Paul says you can't go far wrong with a Liteon, reasonable price and playes both + and _ ,and is region free ,and you can add a macro as it is compatible.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |
