Don´t wont to be boring about this - but posted a thread earlier on. If I was in your position - when there is a thunderstorm in the area I would switch of PC and ensure that PC is disconnected from electricity and more importantly modem is disconnected from telephone line. From experience I can tell you that a thunderstorm can not only damage your modem but also the PC!! Still, if you´re files are fully backed up then you have no worries!!!!!!!!!!! - you can always reinstall all your family tree files and important documents!!!!!! Elaine
