Oh you made me giggle, I have had three reminders inthe last two years for my smear test, exasperated I phoned the surgery last week and said 'Nurse can of course do the smear if she can find my cervix it has been in a laboratory somewhere for the past sixteen years but she is welcome to do one if she can find it' the receptioned roared with laughter. xxhugxx but in seriousness ladies do remember to have one regularly. |

That made me laugh Lindy. But yes serioulsy don't put off a smear test ladies. I was found at the age of 36 to have abnormal cells ended up having a colne biopsy which found pre cancer cells, if it had been left it would have devolped to cancer within 10 years. So don't put it off if found early is easy treated and a life saver. Germaine x |

Hi All Well.....have finally made an appointment for my regular smear (1 year overdue). I know, I shouldn't leave it. I usually dont but am shamed by being overweight and thinking how awful it must be for them to do it. And yes, I know its just their job and all that but still, we are just human. I will definately go - I always keep appointments once made. I just put off making them! Make sure you who have 'put it off till next week' DO! Or it will end up a year overdue like me. PS hope all will be well with you Julie. Vikki xx |

Hi all, I had an abnormal smear about 9 months ago, a repeat 6 months later and was referred to the hospital straight away for cervical erosion. I went for my first consultation after a week and have to go on Friday for a colposcopy and possible treatment. It's not cancer but it just shows that other things can be picked up too. I'm not looking forward to Friday but at least I am being treated before anything serious occurs. Jack x |

I've always had the smears regular ever since I married. Never had a problem and apart from being a bit embarrassed when its done (only had three children, lol) it's been fine. This last time in July, the nurse (a sister in the health centre) who did it really hurt me. To be honest if that had been the first one it would have put me off going back. When she said afterwards, oh just in case there weren't enough cells you may need to come back and have it redone, I thought well if that happens it won't be you doing it. You don't need somebody like that doing these tests. But thats the one and only time it's been like that, thank goodness. |
