Hi Sandra When he comes again tell him you are not paying him until he has rectified all the faults and he should have some insurance to cover damage . My neighbour has been having trouble with a plumber she got to install a new bathroom and tile it. he started the last week in August and he is still having to come back to rectify faults. My husband has pointed out all that needs doing (in his younger days he was a plumber but he's to old and past it now to do heavy jobs) and told her not to pay him until the work is finished properly. Another neighbour across the road got someone to remove an old shed and garden rubbish and when he had supposedly finished he went off with a shovel which belonged to my husband. She told him she wasn't paying him until the shovel was returned He rang her up about paying and she told him to meet her at work but he didn't turn up when he found out it was the Police station. On Thursday he arrived at her house for payment but she didn't pay him until he had given her the shovel back So my advice is stick to your guns and don't pay until he has rectified the work Bren |

hiya dawn and thanks. best part about it he charges £90 a day. so me and hubby fires off,its a first for me not to talk to anyone. but thinking time is money lol. He emultioned (bad spelling) my stairs and landing, no probs, then he started papering my middle room. i said to my hubby you would have thought he would do the ceilings in my middle room and kitchen. b4 papering, hubby looks above and says there is no way he has done the ceilings. cos they should have been white and they were dingy.Hubby said we will box clever not to upset him. so my hubby said to him' we think we prefare gloss on our ceilings. sorry for messing you about'. the man said its ok . they sell paint now which goes on pink and drys white. so you can see were you have missed. i will do it again.M e thinks liar liar pants on fire, after he has done i wont recomend him x |

Sandra My hubby is a decorator and he has public liability insurance that would cover him for any accidents. If you aren't happy don't pay until it is to your expected standard. My hubby is more than happy to redo bits for his customers and has even been known to change a colour completely as the people weren't happy with the one they had chosen. I have had people phone back later and say a border has started to peel and hubby goes back and resticks it for them. Good luck and stand your ground after all its your hard earned money you are parting with and if he hasn't done it he shouldn't be paid |

'Yeah when you finish the job you will get paid!! !Honestly ... hubby is a builder and would hate to leave a job not finished or a customer unsatisfied!! He may be the guy doing the work but you are the person paying him!! and sure as eggs is eggs he wont be able to pay for the next job before you pay him!!! Karen |

Hi Sandra, Sometimes you do get bubbles, when the paper dries they disappear unless they are really bad,if that is the case DON'T pay him a penny, bill him for all the damage. Sounds like YOU could have done a better job yourself. If possible, always try and see the persons work in other properties if your not sure. Micheal. |

He should have insurance to cover accidents, I think it £2,000,000. If not I would deduct the cost of the TV from his bill. Don't pay him until you are satisfied with the job, David |

hiya got decorater in this week, done 3 rooms for us. never had him b4, but he does a lot in our village. He has nearly finished, but we are not happy. bubbles in paper on one wall, and he is supposed to have done the stair case in a mahogny stain. just checked (got my glasses on cos i have been on here) NOT BEEN TOUCHED. still see dust on them. and he says sorry i have had an accsident (bad spelling) as i moved your tv stand, the tv fell onto your dining room chair, so we have a chunck out of tv at the top, still works but spoils the look. what would you do . when i say i can see dust my hubby says that could have come as he was cleaning up. i say no way ohsay x |
