Ann, I have been trying for days now ... but keep getting the same 'exceeded resource limit' message. I have been on since 8am this morning ... trying every 10 minutes or so ... still no luck. I have sent a message to the Manager's ...Debs (the leg bone's ) & Daniel ????? ... but I don't expect a reply. :-( Others have been having the same problem ... but apparently HAVE managed to get on after a few days ! so fingers crossed ? Elaine :-)

Hi, I think the problem is only in creating a new album - I just added to mine this morning and it was easy. Gwynne

I was taken aback by the MSN sites telling me I've got 3 MB of storage, then stopping me putting on anything more than 2.9. I know I'm far from a maths whizz-kid, but aren't they short-changing us? CB >|<

Me? A manager? However, perhaps this guide will help. Before creating an album, you need to know the location of your photos on your PC. It is also more user-friendly to have your photos displayed in ‘Thumbnail’ view. To do this, navigate to the folder where your family history photos are stored. Click on the folder so you can see your photo files. In the top toolbar, click on ‘View’ then click on ‘Thumbnails’. All your photos should now be nice, little preview pictures, which helps you choose the photos you wish to upload. Another point to bear in mind is that the photo site only allows 3 megabytes of storage per user. If you exceed this limit, you will be unable to upload any further photographs unless you first delete any unwanted pics. Therefore, it is advisable to have your pics in .jpg format, which, because of their small file size, make .jpgs the recommended photo format for websites. Now to create your album and upload your photos. Firstly, do you have a Hotmail e-mail address? YES: Then you’re in luck! You already have a Microsoft NET passport and a user profile which makes the process of creating an album on MSN (Microsoft Network) and uploading photos much quicker. Click on the ‘Join Now’ link to the left of the page, and follow the instructions to sign in with your NET passport. NO: If you don’t have a Hotmail e-mail account you can easily get one. Hotmail e-mail accounts are free and it is always a good idea to have a secondary e-mail account, especially when buying items online. By using a secondary e-mail address online, you can protect your main e-mail address (usually the one provided by your ISP) from spam. Click on the ‘Join Now’ link to the left of the page and follow the instructions to ‘Get a Net Passport’. Alternatively, if you don’t wish to have a Hotmail e-mail account, you can sign in using your usual e-mail address. Click on the ‘Join Now’ link on the left hand side of the page, and follow the instructions to ‘Get a Net Passport’. Once you have a NET Passport, sign in and then click on ‘Pictures’ to the left of the page. You should now see a small star with a ‘Create a new album’ link next to it. You will then be prompted to name and give a brief description of your album, e.g. Susan’s Pictures. You will also be presented the following three options: Who may add, delete, or edit photos in this album? 1. Members may add and delete any photo in this album. 2. Members may add, edit, and delete their own photos. 3. Only the album creator and managers may add and delete photos It is advisable to checkmark the third option. Now you should see an ‘Add Photos’ link with a + sign next to it. Click on the ‘Add Photos’ link. Now navigate to the folder on your PC where your photos are stored. When you can see the photos you wish to upload, just place a check mark (tick) in the small square at the top left-hand side of the photograph. When you have ticked all the photos you wish to upload, click on the ‘Upload Now’ link and voila, your photos should now be nicely displayed in your very own Family History album. Note: Each time you wish to view albums or edit your own album, you must ‘sign in’ using the same e-mail address and password you originally used to sign up for your NET passport. Please write these details down and keep them close to your computer. You will know whether you are ‘signed in’ or not. If you ARE signed in you should have “Add Photos” “Settings” and “Delete” to the right of your MSN Nickname which is alongside a smiley wearing sunglasses.

I had probs with it all last Sunday, as I was new to it thought it was something I was or wasn't doing, so frustrating. But tried again on Monday and it was dead simple, even for me! my husband was dead shocked when he saw that I'd done it without a word of advise from him! I think the site must have dodgy days, perhaps it's too many people trying at the same time???? Suex

Sorry Ann I'm no help as I've been trying to put photos on since I had GB in July and apparently I too have exceeded my resources. No surprise to my husband or my bank manager of course!! Finally emailed them to Lynn (Ferret Lady) who did it for me. Daisy
