Oh Julie :O( now you've got me wanting one lol Lynda - you've reminded me of something we used to do at my old job at a Magistrates Courts office - we had a book of 'misquoted quotes' ............ eg. 'I can't afford to pay £20 a fornight - I can only afford £10 a week' ......... That's a mild one, but we used to read them out at the end of the year and some of them were hilarious LOL |

M & S sell their own versions all year around. I'm sure they're smaller now though, & yes they did have a nut at the bottom. Actually I wish they did a walnut-free walnut whip because they are my least favourite nuts!!! :0) Joan xx |

I use to bite the walnut off the take a small bite so you could dip your tongue in the centre and lick the cream out then eat the rest. mmmmmm Ive seen them in Liverpool havent had one for ages, will get one on monday. Yvonne |

Yvonne - wow, that took me back many years! After you bit off the walnut you had to be VERY careful about how big a bite you took next so that you fully enjoyed licking the cream out. Too big a bite and the whole thing cracked and the experience just wasn't the same. That was in the 60s. Remember they came back in the 80s but, as someone has said, they were smaller - or were we bigger? Haven't seen a walnut whip in years in my neck of the wood but will be checking out my local confectioners soon.......... Anne |
