What about cycling? And put aside the money you would normally waste on cigarettes and buy some certificates or other treat. Janice

Hi Nicky, as someone who has done hypnotherapy, Alan Carrs book, acupuncture, fake fags, herbal cigs, Nicotine chewing gum, you name it I tried it, year after year after year! I finally joined a group attached to my local hospital, and with the help of patches, KICKED it at long last! 4 years down the line, all is well... I thought the book was great, and you dont have to stop smoking until you finish the book! (take as long as you like!) good luck... BC XX

I stopped with the help of patches but anything that helps you then use. Everyone is different. I think number one - you have to want to stop. Then use any method which you think will help. I'm surprised your GP didn't mention any local help groups. I thought most places ran them now. Jane
