Marshall Wards did have that offer still, thank you. But I wasnt keen on the flowery designs. So Ive just bought an eggshell blue set on ebay for £10 plus £7 delivery. Will save my poor old back getting it delivered. Many thanks for everyones input.

If you know anyone with a Marshall Wards catalogue, last time I had a look they were doing services (4 of everything) for £19.99 BOGOF. So 8 of everything for less than £20 and you could also buy matching mugs, coffee pot etc if you wanted. Mind you, haven't seen a catalogue lately don't know whether offer still on. Best wishes Jan

Wilkinsons or are you anywhere near an Ikea? Very cheap & cheerful. My everyday set is from there. (oh, that sounds a bit snobby! But had another set for a wedding present & hardly use it in case I break anything)

Was also going to suggest Matalan or Wilkinsons - or do you know anyone with a Makro card? Anna

Thanks everyone. We dont have a tesco locally (Im afraid we are Waitrose country here - just one glass is a fiver there!). I was hoping not to have to go to the city because these things are so heavy to carry about. I will have a further look. For some reason tescos dont show things like that on their extra online page.

tesco value range isn't bad at all, and can replace bits when Sunnny jim breaks them have you a Morrisons close? I have their 'Atlantic' crockery, pretty robust it is too Sets are all very well, IF you are a Cups and saucers person - Morrisons have mugs that match the Atlantic Range Jess x

Only other thing I can think of is a retail outlet selling seconds. nell

Hi, having got down to just 3 plates and 3 bowls in my every day, bought at Woolies dinner set (19 year old drops one plate/bowl on average every 2 weeks), Im looking for a cheap but brightly coloured replacement. Ive checked out Argos and all the other usual places and really cant see anything I like (under £25!). They have one set called Monterray which is bright and hand painted but only 12 to the set. I guess I will get that one at a push but I wondered if any of you wise people know of a good place to get cheapo bright sets? Ebay has nothing, nor any of the catalogues sites and woolworths site says they have nothing either.
