I was just looking on line for a pet insurance policy for Ralph. Sainsbury's is brilliant and I rang them to check about his disability and they said no prob, that would just be excluded. But then I started looking at other insurance comparisons online. I found that the accident insurance we pay at £28 per month I can get with Nationwide for £8 per month! And Mortgage Protection we pay at 21.36 per month I can get for less than £11 per month. So, if you want to save a few bob for those certs, check yours out too.

Don't forget to check the type and amount of cover you are getting though and of course the excess etc.

Hi Heather Speaking of Insurances I'm not sure if it applies to England but on the News tonight here in Perth Australia they were speaking about Mortgage Insurances and it seem that if you Re- Mortgage your home you are entitled to a rebate from the Banks for you Mortgage Insurance. Seems the banks are not telling you about it and you have to ask. Some are getting up to $3,500 rebate. Just a bit of Info you could ask about in UK. Worth asking about. It only applies if you Re- Mortgage I think. Pity it didn't happen when I was paying a Mortgage Oh well mines paid for thank goodness. Regards Jackie

You generally get what you pay for.Sainsbury's pet insurance is cheap and cheerful. Pet Plan offer far wider cover, but is more expensive.

On the subject of insurance,a friend of mine lost her mother recently...she was in a home,88 years old, alzeimers etc. She and her husband had booked a holiday, paid for it in full, and were due to fly out 2 days after her mothers death.Obviously she was now unable to go,the funeral was 2days later after the flight date. The insurance they took out wouldnt pay out for the flights.........to quote them..it was a 'pre-existing condition' !!! £400 down the pan.........disgrace. Pam H.

Rob, have you checked out Sainsburys plan? It was given 5 stars by money mail and Dogs Today. You get up to £6.500 cover- more than Pet plan supreme (£4k) and there is no time limit. You really should have a look at it. There are some cheap and cheerful plans, including Petplans own Bronze cover but Sainsburys isnt. With the Mortgage Insurance (which was voted top 2005) the cover starts immediately you are ill - my Abbey National policy had an 8 week wait.

Ray, had an email today that Ralph's boots have been posted. They said up to 6 days for delivery from today - guess Irish post a bit slow. Meanwhile he has his new play pen. I am think of renaming him Pirhana cos his little teeth are like needles, have gone right through my jumper!

Heather totally confused. Once your pet is insured, Petplan will continue to cover any ongoing illnesses and injuries into their old age as long as you continue to renew your policy each year without any break in the cover. Some pet insurance policies place a 12 month limit in the cover they provide for treatment of an injury or illness. This means that they will only pay for the first 12 months for any illness or injury that your pet may develop and for any ongoing conditions like arthritis. That is my understanding. If the Sainsbury's plan is like the Petplan, and cheaper, you have a good deal, fine. I still say you generally get what you pay for. There are many exclusions and small print on insurance policies. Buyer beware!

Hubby says shame we couldnt ask them to customise boots. They do black or black. Id liked bright red with a few rhinestones on it. Theres a niche in the market for any of you clever people.
