Thanks so much guys. She and her husband are going to a twins class this evening. I saw the ultrasounds - oh my gosh they are so so so very cute, not saying that single babies aren't cute either (another sister is pregnant with her second child). So twins follow down the maternal line.... so does this mean that Stu having twin nieces has nothing to do with these twins?? So it's just cos it comes from our side??? Chloe x |

My twins were due the 26th February were born 23rd Feb 6lb 10ozs and 6lb 14ozs. They are now 30. Ihad 10days notice as there were no scans than. Everyone kept saying I had one very large baby. Though hospital said if they had known they would have induced them earlier. Our girls were identical but we tried very hard to help them become individuals, dressing then differently and being in different classes at school etc. People still ask them which one are you when they are together which irrates them greatly. Make sure your sister has plenty of help for the first 3 years! Win |

Hi Chloe, I had my 24 year old twin daughters at 38 weeks. I think it is quite rare to go full term with twins. I hope that your sister has a good pregnancy., and manages to get as much rest as possible. Jillxx |

I had my twins girls now aged eleven at thirty five weeks due to having pre-eclampsia and oedema, had a bit of a rough time after the caesarian section and had to spend five weeks before they were born in hospital and a short while afterwards, but my girls were fine and one weighed in at 5lb 7oz and the other at 6lb 5oz and very healthy, they told me if they had of gone full term they would have been another two pound each heavier. I wish your sister the best of luck and hope everything goes well, tell her she must rest as much as possible before and after they are born and try to get into a good routine, I also had a toddler to look after aswell and thought it would be a nightmare but luckily as they get to the stage where they can sit up they tend to amuse one another so for me it was actually a lot easier than i thought it would be. They have brought us so much pleasure and so many happy memories. Marie |

My fraternal twin boys will be 18 at the end of August. They were three and a half weeks early but pregnancy can still last 40 weeks or more. My Great Grandmother had twins three times. It skipped two generations and got to me! The incidence of twins is only passed through the female line and has nothing to do with the father or his family. Viv |

I have 19 year old twins. They told me at the time that twin pregnancies averaged 38 weeks However mine stayed put for the full 40 weeks. In the end the maternity hospital refused to make any more routine appointments. They were 6 lb 3 oz and 6 lb 8 oz and I ended up 47 inches round. You might find that your sister does not need as many tiny baby clothes as people suggest. Apart from being very tired and becomming anaemic I did not have many problems with the pregnancy. We only needed to stay in hospial a week. Both twins are now at university. |

My sister had her scan today. She's abour 4 months. It's her first pregnancy. Twins run on both sides, but indirectly (my dad's brothers are twins and Stu - sister's husband - has twin nieces). She's expecting twin girls!!! Aaaaaah! So excited. They're due mid-December, but as it's twins will probably be before. No idea when - does anyone else have an idea? Another sister is expecting her second child at the end of October - any chance they'll coincide?? So happy!!! Chloe |
