Looking for shoes for my 13 year old daughter is a complete nightmare!! Trying to get her to wear good old Clarks, which nowadays, are definitely 'trendy' but she wants lacoste or hoi polloi, which cost a fortune and definitely do not fit as well as Clarks!!! Back from the shops wanting to strangle her, it took all my strength to stay calm in front of sales assistants and other shoppers and we still don't have any shoes..... sob, sob, we have to go and try again, what am i going to do?

I have the same problem with my sons - though they accept that they must have 'boring school shoes' from Clarks, they always want trendy trainers. I tell them how much I am prepared to spend and say that if they want to have something costing more than that they will have to make up the difference with their pocket money. It is amazing how much more careful they are with their own money than with mine! Luckily, we have always managed to get something in the sales which fits in with my idea of price and their idea of fashion. Younger son is still happy to wear older brother's cast offs, but elder brother wants designer-brand t-shirts and spends his birthday money on them. If only the fact that they cost so much meant that he would hang them up or fold them!!!! nell

Tell her she will be sent to school in her slippers lol Must admit tho - Clarkes was never cool when I was young, but have to agree they are more trendy now - and sooo comfy too - even the trendy looking ones LMAO

Sorry, be glad you have her, moods, needs , wants, likes and dislikes... Leave her to wear the old ones - school doesn't start for weeks yet , , maybe they do hurt /look scruffy but will focus the mind. Cant she have cheap and nasty for the school hols then go you way for school? Jess

I Agree AAAAAHhhhhhhhhhh I have got a 15 yr old girl who is a Shoe shopping Nightmare lol Especially when it comes to trainers.. I always ask ' what colour do you want' Reply 'Blue and White' I ask 'Dark or light blue' Reply 'Dark I think' She says 'Too dark'...or 'Too tight'..or 'Wrong type of sole'..or ' too chunky looking' 'Too manly'...or 'Too girly'....etc etc etc. But we have a major problem now as she has got BIG feet for her age.So she needs MENS but they still have to look like Ladies Trainers. Last time 'Which was about 3 weeks ago' we went to JJB and hunted all the MENS shelves and had to ask for a size 9 YES size 9. When we got them they were too SMALL round toes..asked for size 10 and guess what they didn't fit either AHHHH So had to TRY and find another pair that she liked lol 2 hrs later or so it felt like.. we eventually did find 2 other styles and so we asked for 9's & 10's in both styles.. HURRAY we got 2 Different pairs that fit her Size 10's Mens And YES they were Dark blue and White. But in the process I was Having MTA or Major Trainer Agression as I call it..lol But I had one very happy 15 yr old for once lol Luckily I only have her so I dont have this problem too often as I make sure that she looks after them so we dont have to do this experience often lol I have got wound up just typing this lol I just wish you all & Myself.. HAPPY SHOE SHOPPING Lesley :~)

You could always threaten to get some old fashioned 'Clogs' or 'Sabots' for them, but then again they might think its 'Trendy' then you,ll have trouble finding them. Hal.
