Sometimes I get an email with an attachment that I click on, it says Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what programme created it, What do I do? Can anyone hel? Linda |

Maybe someone has used an application or format you dont have on your PC like Powerpoint (for slideshows etc) or Excel?? or that your PC does not support. I've had that before but it is to do with the attachment - it's not that your PC has a problem as such :O) |

Ah pictures can be saved in different formats like Bitmap & Jpeg. Most pc's support Jpeg - ask him to check what he's used. |

Hi Lynda I have had this on a few occasions also. When it asks you what programme you want to open to view it. I tried a few to see if it would open. I usually can get to see Pics in WORD. Another way i have viewed them is by forwarding the email you received. (You don't have to put an address) then go to FILE, PRINT PREVIEW and then the picture usually comes up. I am not an expert but I just kept trying diiferent things. Those two I mentioned seem to work for me. Hope you have some luck Regards Jackie |

Linda the most important bit of info we need you haven't included :~D Have a look at the file name and tell us whats after the DOT As already stated pictures usually come in .jpg or .gif but can come in .msp (microsoft paint) or .psp (paint shop pro) You can then Google the file type to find out what programme created it. Just a possibility. Assuming both photos have bben saved to the same format, (eg both end in .jpg), check to see if there are spaces used in the file name eg Bill.jpg will open but Bill and Ben.jpg won't. If that is the case you could save the offending file, rename it without spaces, and then open it in the same package. Beth :) |
