su can,t say for for sure the mileage, but I would guess roughly an hour and a half car journey. I expect you will get a more precise answer shortly Ciffx |

thanks both of you, was just wondering if it would be to far to travel from barrow to liverpool to go into service, but 100miles isnt that far even in the 1900s suexx |

Yes I think it would be feesable for someone to go that far. I have found a family born Liverpool area came to Fleetwood in the 1880's and in 1901 were in Barrow. Could be it was an area that had plenty of work Germaine x |

su If you can give some dates, that could help. If in the 1800,s a boat ride from barrow to Liverpool looks the likeliest. People travelled a lot futher than a 100 miles in those days to find work. cliff |

hi cliff, the dates where around 1913, found an ella macdonald in burrow in furness(ella was my g grandmother) born 1896, she was supposed to have been only 16 when she gave birth to my grandfather in liverpool in1915, cant find anyone of that age anywhere, only the one in barrow born in 1896 have to try to trace her to liverpool hence the question how far from liverpool is barrow in furness best wishes suexx |
