GRRRRR unhelpful FRIENDS I thought the point behind this site was for us all to help each other with info to forward our searches..(although any advise must also be followed through and double checked!!!} Imagine my disappointment when contacted by someone FROM THIS SITE... asking about my relations!!! FIRM DETAILS emerge i tell them A FEW NAMES im told have those already and more but I AM TOLD 'FIND OUT YOURSELF..... its cost me a lot of money and time to get where i am' I have passed my tree onto many, found connections and put others in touch.. This was the fist time someone had actually given me something to hope for ... that the top of the tree could be broken as 5 of my branches have never got past the top two people and this person HAS THOSE DETAILS AND MORE WHY join the site if you are not going to help out BOTH WAYS ??

I just added a message and lo and behold... it has been deleted... why? All I did was tell Sharon that we are not all the same as the miserable so and so who should be ashamed of themselves for not letting her have rellies that are hers anyway!!! So there!! Should be allowed to have my say on my birthday GR!!! Anne :))

That is awful. I am lucky I have had nothing but help from people and have tried to give the same back. Why is it some people are like this I feel so good and proud when I have found something and am able to share it. Especially if it has cost money as I think I have saved it for them. Germaine x

I have been lucky in getting help from people, not connected to my tree, with look ups. But on the other hand passed a lot of info to someone who is directly related and offered more if she wanted on other sides of family, She neither aknowledged what I gave her or got back in touch, so dissapointed at her taking advantage of what i had to offer and being to rude to get back after she had what she wanted.

that is a shame Sharon, very frustrating. You can only hope that what goes around comes around ad the person doesn't find any other help when needed. Not in the spirit of this site though is it. We all pay out money, I have shared my information, much of it paid for with three of my cousins and they share what they find with me. Although they are not on this site at all. ann Glos

Only happened once. I gave access to my tree and the person has repeatedly ignored requests for access to hers. She described this branch of the family has 'obscure' and that she found it impossible to find info. Well, I didn't have problems and I know so much more than she does. So she is missing out on info. I have to say that I have been lucky with distant rellies who have shared certificates and info. freely in exchange for photos and info. from me. This includes a non-relly. He has helped me incredibly by checking parish records. This out of the goodness of his heart to a complete stranger and I am very grateful (he knows who he is). Susan

Sharon, that is absolutely disgusting and hopefully the person concerned will get a taste of their own medicine - soon. But for every person like that on GR, there are 10 or more to make up for it. Good luck! x

people like that should be barred from gr, gr should make it a rule if you have other peoples relations on your tree you should be obliged to share them, what are they on this site for, selfish person.
