Have just got an invite to a 60's night this Saturday. Any ideas what I can wear without breaking the bank? I was in my teens in the 60's and was 7 stone. Please bear in mind that I am now 58 and about 11.5 stone. Don't make me look silly!!!!!!! lol

You may feel a bit exposed if you wear a mini-skirt, but you can wear flared trousers. The 60s was quite psychedelic, so flowery colourful shirts, etc. You don't have to break the bank, just visit your local charity shops and trawl. I went to a 60s party a long time ago - in the 80s! - and I wore a black halterneck top, white skirt with black belt and black & white bangles. Google 'Mary Quant' or 'Biba' to get some ideas. nell

Or you might get some ideas from a fashion book in your local library. nell

Well, lots of eye makeup and false eyelashes will set the style plus you could either do a sleak Mary Quant or a backcombed job! Mesh knit stockings, preferably black or white. Psychadelic ear rings - either the black white rings job or big plastic hoops (Im sure they stretched my lobes). Also rings to match. White lipstick.

Thanks Nell. I had forgotten about the black and white theme. I am going to backcomb my hair wear lots of black eyeliner and white lipstick. I remember wearing that at my wedding in 1968. Linda

Did they not have the Gypsy fashion back then aswell with all the long flowing skirts and the cheeseclothe blouses and headscarfs or was that another era................as that is some of the fashion now so would be easy to get hold of and cheap... Have fun Love Susie xx

Hi Linda A lot of this years fashion is 60`s......gypsy type tops, flared pants ,shift type dresses. I went to a 60`s party and my friend and I made 2 dresses out of a few yards of white & black material-simple shift type,we back combed our hair-we used a full can of hair spray and lots of black eyeliner and false eyelashes!-I loved wearing those except towards the end of the night when 1 dropped in my drink and I thought it was a spider-I had drunk a few by then lol Diane :))

My cheesecloth blouse with billowing sleeves and coloured jungle animals on it, not to mention the fiddling looped button holes, dated from 1974. nell

in the 60's anything went, to the black and whites to physodelic. Wear a long flowing skirt or dress with a loose blouse over (this will hide a multitude of sins) and plenty of plastic jewellery.

Linda, You should have no trouble at all with this season's fashions - wear a 1967-style kaftan and a pair of fancy flipflops! They're all over the place at present and all the shops have got Sales on. Get some bells (from the budgie section at a pet shop) and beads (from a charity shop), stick a flower behind your ear and go round saying 'Peace, man!' Gets you out of 'Mary Quant mini' mode! CB >|< Have a great party - wish I was going! LOL
