Sorry Heather, not a clue. It is my son's computer and I will have to ask him when he comes home.

Gerald, do you have anti virus and a firewall? Also something like ad aware?

Sorry I didn't reply sooner - had to go out. Thanks everyone. As I don't understand these things, I wondered if by going onto the link I had somehow allowed hackers into my PC. As I changed my ebay password fairly quickly I hope that would block any access to my ebay account.

Val - because this thread is a year old! Gerald, if you did it immediately I would have thought you were totally safe but you can email ebay to confirm. I always forward them to spoof at ebay. I have now changed my email address on ebay to my hot male one as that is so much better for stopping spam I do block these peeps but have reached my limit of 100 blocked addies now. I dont know how these people can sleep at night, its absolutely disgusting that they can sit there doing this to people.

When you get a 'spoof' email allegedly from Ebay or Paypal the best thing to do is to 'Block the Sender' - this avoids any confusion at a later date - I get a lot of these spoof emails, but because I blocked the original one and they all come from the same Sender they just go straight to my 'Deleted Items' box, therefore I 'know' they are fake. I had a spoof ebay email today and unfortunately clicked on the link and entered my user name and password before I realised it was a scam as there was no message. I then went to ebay through the correct address and changed my password. Can anyone tell me if this should make things safe. Advice, please. Regards, Gerald

All those sort of messages (the genuine ones I mean) go through Ebay and they have their own 'mailbox' where they are kept. If you get an email regarding non payment, then go to 'My Ebay' and if it's genuine there will be a messge telling you that you've got a 'new message'. I know I haven't explained that very well - but I hope you get the gist of it? Kaye x

Yes just delete them. There is an address you can forward spoof emails to and ebay will check them out so anything you are not sure of send to them, will put your mind at ease. Ebay tell you never to click on a link and give your details always go into your ebay and proceed from there. They have a new system and any messages that are sent to you from ebay go into a folder on your My Ebay page so you can check that way too. Germaine x

Ive now had two mails supposedly from ebay telling me that I have been reported for not paying for an item I have bought. As usual, it asks you to click on a link to sort this out. The link brings you to a page where they ask your info! If anyone else gets one, just delete.
