Hi Sioux, 'fraid it looks too late for me. Now I understand what others have said about ancestry in the past. I thought as my sub was due about now I would see if I could take advantage of the offer. Went into my account details and found that it has been automatically renewed on 27/6. I do like the way I have received absolutely no notification at all! Just as well I was going to renew.

Janet, Exactly the same thing has happened to me. I was going to renew but feel now I might cancel as they have just taken my money without even contacting me. Jean x.

I don't understand why this happens. My subs run out on the 18th of this month. I had an email last week reminding me and telling me that if I wanted to cancel that this was the time. As I've come to a complete stall in my research I have cancelled. I sent them an email with all the details they requested and added that I wanted confirmation by return. I got both the automated message telling me my cancellation had be accepted but I also got the personal one I'd asked for. XX Sioux

just checked mine and it was automatically renewed on 13.6.05, without being told either !!!! have now sent them an email reagrding this offer and not having the decency to warn me it was being renewed..... lets see what they do now Jane

I've emailed Ancestry d*t c*m three times this week about the offer as my subscription is due soon. I wanted to know if they would give me 20% off too or if I should cancel with them and go with Ancestry(.)co. uk. They have not replied to me yet!

Mines due on the 16th July and I havent had an email either, I do want to renew but thats not the point.

Hi Sioux, and others !! I was going to put this on too but you beat me to it! My ancestry got renewed too without me getting an email. But I do know they will automatically renew you unless you email them to say cancel...... I never emailed them.... however I am not too worried as its a really good site now,,,, never was a couple of years ago, but now its worth the dosh..... I might try and get them to give me the 20 per cent discount too now,,, worth a try isnt it?????

Ancestry has mailed me and said it is for new subscribers only!

i've just got my reply from Ancestry......... 1. their email must have been blocked by my spam blocker, after i'd already checked my spam folder and there was nothing there from them ! 2. can't have the offer as its for new subscribers only ! nice............. thanks for nothing ancestry ! Jane

If those having problems with the offer post a message on the Your Family Tree Forum. I am aware of one case that is being looked into. Perhaps something could be sorted out.
