I've just been away for a week and I'm covered in them. They're very irritating, Lucia :-) |

Hi Lucia, Try Tea Tree Oil. Just dab a bit on each bite. Smells awful but works for me :~) XX Sioux |

Lucia i used to get bitten really bad by midges and more so if i went abroad but i was advised to take odourless garlic capsules. I take these every year now and touch wood, have not been bitten since! First time i took them I had already been bitten but had no more after a couple of days of taking them! This might be an idea for you in future Sue x |

Hi Lucia, Have you tried taking an antihistamine like Piriton? That's what works for me. Janice |

I had a couple of enormous mozzie bites on holiday last week. small lumps with a swollen halo about the size of a milk bottle top.... Try using the after bite pen from the chemist, it really does take the itch out of it, even tho it might sting at first. As said before, piriton is good for bites, stings allergies.. Elaine x |

Lucia are you in far north queensland too??LOL up here you get eaten by them too we have a good spray you make up so they won't bite you, but if you also take vitamin b for a couple months before going where they are going to be, it stops them biting you , the main topic of conversation at our happy hours we have every day is what works to get rid of the itch, here is a few to try Colgate Toothpaste ,Cloudy Ammonia, Rubbing Alcohol , Tea Tree oil , I had been using the alcohol but ran out and are now using the cloudy ammonia and it seems to work I had to be taken to hospital last year and nearly went nutty with bites on my arms and the Dr gave me phenergan and I was practically unconcious for 48 hours but it stopped the itch alright any anti histamine works too but don't know what they are called in UK , hope this helps as I know how bad they are, Lara |

On a serious note, years ago I used to be covered in gnat bites every summer. These days, though, they don't seem to touch me - don't know why. Hope you have some success in the remedies offered. x |

Avon's Skin so soft dry oil spray in Woodland fresh used to be good for deterring biters, but have just looked in my new catalogue and it is renamed Soft and fresh so may not be the same. Will try to find out and advise further. |

Hello Lucia, We also live in Queensland and have tried lots of remedies and found equal parts of methylated spirits and cold black tea works for us, takes the itch away. Pat. |
