It is only 9 weeks now before we go to Cornwall for 2 weeks! We want to see the 'real' Cornwall and not just the touristy places! As we are on a budget we thought we would have days out to various coves where the kids can spend the day in rock pools and stuff! I dont do crowds very well but also want to see the natural beauty.... so advice needed as to where to go! Thanks Bev x |

Hi Bev One of my favourite places in Cornwall is Praa Sands, down Penzance way. We used to go there often when the kids were young. A mile long sandy beach with rock pools at the end. No dogs allowed in the summer and a pub, fish & chip shop and general store almost on the beach. Good for surfing too I believe. I'm soooo jealous - I wish I was going to Cornwall again :o) Have a wonderful holiday Sue xx |

I'm jealous - haven't been to Cornwall since 1998 when we stayed for the second time in two years, at a delightful inexpensive flat in Falmouth. The lady has recently contacted me to say when are you coming again, as we have stayed in touch with Christmas cards, and I keep promising to go back. Can recommend it if anyone is interested, contact me direct for the contact details. |

Hi Bev, I was in Cornwall only a few weeks ago. I agree with everyone else - the Minack theatre is fab (hope I spelt it right), Mousehole (pronounced Mowzel - a real traditional Cornish village), Sennen Cove - sweeping beach, Boscastle (fantastic people, lovely Cornish teas and craft shops), St Mawes Castle and it's sister Pendennis Castle (lovely atmosphere and views), Tintagel, Marazion (where the boats to St Michaels Mount go from - but be warned - The Mount is closed on Saturdays!). If you like walking and exploring, there is a fantastic walk round old tin mines near Geevor. We found the best tin mine to visit was Blue Hills near St Agnes Head (be prepared for a VERY steep drive down!). Perranporth itself isn't very pretty, but has a good beach and lovely opportunities for photographing surfers! I personally wouldn't recommend Lands End - very touristy and tacky, Portreath (sorry but it's not the cleanest place I've even been!), or Falmouth. Others may like Falmouth but I felt a bit let down - though the shop at the Maritime museum is good, and there are sometimes some nice boats in. I do highly recommend the fudge! Have a wonderful time! Sal |

Nicest place we went to in Cornwall (apart from maybe the Eden Project, which was fascinating) was Perranporth - lovely beach. |

I trawled all through the replies and was just going to put on beautiful Kynance Cove when there it was the ;last posting. we walked from Kynance NT car park to the Lizard lighthouse, then up into the village and bought some of Ann's pasties, difficult to beat!! Quite a long walk but not hard and beautiful views. So many lovely coves - it does depend where exactly you are staying though as the roads and lanes get busy in the summer. we were down at porth navas a couple of weeks ago. Ann Glos |

Thanks for all the replies everyone.... I have been going to Cornwall for a few years now but have not visited hardly any of these places as we tended to go to the touristy ones! Have copied them all down and now I cant wait! Kynance Cove sounds delightful and will make sure that gets a visit! Cheers Bev x |
