I have never felt truly happy, from aged 4 I have not wanted to be walking on this planet, nevertheless I have a life, a husband, two lovely children and four fab cats. If offered a pill that would let me go I would take it in a heart beat! It is my responsibility to my children that keeps me alive not a desire to live! Julie, There,s something of that in each and everyone of us. in the nicest possible way ' give your brain a shampoo' also applies to us all - it,s our thoughts that make us unhappy. You will think me a wicked bitch for this but I was never truly happy until my mother died.I could never escape her and whatever I did she would spoil.Every day I woke to sunshine that came from within me and waited for her cloud to pass in front of it.So,I believe,did my father.We are both different people now. I feel that you should not expect other people to make you happy but it is not unreasonable to expect them not to make you unhappy either.

Sharron, Points well made. All of us to a tiny or larger degree get a bit of pleasure at times out of seeing others hurt, because we are unhappy with ourselves. Somebody will disagree with that, but I think its part of human nature. You were, perhaps, a major victim. happy days
