by farmers today. They want the term 'couch potato' removed from the Oxford Dictionary, as it is insulting and degrading to potatos....I shall look at potatos, from now on, with greater respect! Is the world gone mad? lol BC

Im sure those potatoes are really upset by the terminology, do they want the Swedish people to be called something else but Swede as well because it sounds like Swede the veg.Where is it all going to end. Davex

Oh NO!! and I expect Bob The Builder will have to rename the scarecrow - cos Spud really is intellectually challenged! What about 'carrot management' ? Strawberry birth marks? Cauliflower Ears? Full of beans? Aaarrgghh! The whole veggie world will be up in arms! Magsxx

Soooooo, the potatoe gets terribly offended when we say Couch Potatoe but they dont mind being cut up peeled of there skin, boiled then mashed, let alone put in hot fat.....WoW they really are sensative little Spuds :S Can these people not find anything more important to complain about .....

Yes there are citrus fruits called Ugly. There are also Ugly Satsumas. There is also a leaflet advertising celeriac as 'The Ugly One.' David

I represent the Couch Manufacturer,s Federation. We deplore the association of a grubby, knobbly and warty vegetable with our products. As a compromise we would be willing to accept the much more refined expression ' couch pomme de terre'. Merci beaucoup.

Well, we had 'freedom' fries at one stage .... don't think 'freedom' beans will catch on. What's PC to one man, is clearly not PC to the next! And anyway, it's all a potato profile raising activity to encourage a media frenzy during the 'silly season' .... clearly having their own magazine, Potato World, yes really, is not enough!
