I was taking my big sis shopping last night and we had got as far as the car when i noticed a gang of local kids poking sticks into a bush, then out shot a rabbit, the were chasing it around the street up and down the road, through gardens.. before my sis could shout at them, i was over there picking up the terrified bunny! One girl said it was hers so i went to her house and spoke to her parents.. they had been keeping it in a cat basket, no food or water again (the second this year i've rescued from similar housing) I informed them that it was coming home with me, the hubby got a bit 'cross' and called for his mate, who, stood behind me smoking a cig trying to look tough... i stood my ground andtook the rabbit home!! she is now called sugar and has lasted the night! xx i would be so ashamed of my daughter if she showed such disrespect for an animals life! x

God that make me soooo angry. I hate people mistreating animals, i could bloody kick em! The best way to look at it is that it now has a wonderful owner that will never let it come to any harm c x

I must get a 'don't mess with me' look on my face when i'm annoyed...pmsl, there supposed to be a really tough family aswell, they didn't know what to say, i think they were more scared than i was.. my sis stayed with the kids at my car and i was alone in their garden, like i said i must just get 'a look!' lol xx

Well you were very brave, you hear so many scary stories, but they knew if they had of said no to you taking the bunny then they would have had the RSPCA or someone on their doorstep!! Pet stores dont care who or what they sell to people as long as they get their sale! Debs x

It's terrible the cruelty and disrespect some people show to animals - do they think that animals have no feelings? The sad thing is it isn't just confined to kids - one evening my Hubby was driving back from getting a chinese when he saw a 'Policeman' kicking his dog in the ribs!! He didn't stop - he said because it was a copper, but I was so cross with him for not doing so. We have two dogs of our own and I would kill anyone who tried to hurt them - they are my children. Well done to you, Im ashamed to say, that in my locall area, its been in the papers about pet rabbit thefts. Its happening each week and you dont know wheatherthey are sold on or tourtered, but in my area i have heard of families finding their pet rabbits spread over their gardens. This is not on, but trying to find the culprits is hard. Weve had examples on how to keep them safe, like putting the cage neareer the house and padlocking the cages.
