hi bendy, live8 are looking into taking legal action against these people, and apparently these massive bids are spoof bids designed to halt the sale because people are so outraged, derek,,...

Hi Derek - I did wonder at the prices being bid. I read on bbc news site that it is not illegal to sell them and ebay were not going to withdraw them Anyone making spoof bids is heading for a bit of bother because it is a binding contract to bid. I'm going to follow this up and see what comes of it. If the people auctioning the tickets were going to donate the full amount to Live8 it would be fine - wonder what will really happen to the cash though.

it's a shame e-bay can't put a stop to these tickets being auctioned. if they must be sold, then it's only right that e-bay states that 1/2 the proceeds will be donated back to the original orginisers for the event. only fair lynnxx

Elaine - i've just read it, it turns your heart. The spoof bidders have gone to £10million on one pair of tickets.

Ebay have stated that they will not be making anything out of the sales of these tickets and will donate at least the proceeds to charity I think selling them is bang out of order though Sarah x

I also think selling them is bang out of order. There's always some shyster after a quick buck. Jan

Just looked at Ebay and there are some that have cancelled bogus bids on their tickets and ahve stated that'ps do-gooders' should stay away!!! Cant believe some people. They are claiming to give a percentage of the money to charity...not all of it. I am so annoyed and I'm no pc do-gooder.

Although I find it all morally incorrect, I must admit that if I had purchased tickets for a couple of hundred pounds and found out that I could sell them for a million pounds I am not sure that I wouldn't sell them either.

Ebay director has just been on tele. He has taken all tickets sales off. Seemingly the million pound bids were people sabotaging sales. He has said any sales that have gone through are legal but any profit made by ebay will be donated to charity. Germaine x
